GOP Rep. Chris Stewart Hits Trump For ‘Rude’ Stormy Tweet: ‘Unnecessary, Not Helpful’

Congressman Chris Stewart (R-UT) criticized President Donald Trump for his tweet insulting Stormy Daniels as “Horseface” today.

After Daniels’ lawsuit was dismissed by a judge yesterday, Trump took to Twitter to write, “Great, now I can go after Horseface and her 3rd rate lawyer in the Great State of Texas. She will confirm the letter she signed! She knows nothing about me, a total con!”

Daniels later responded:

Wolf Blitzer asked Stewart this afternoon if this is in any way appropriate for the President of the United States.

“Of course not,” Stewart responded. “It’s not appropriate for anyone to call someone that under any circumstances. I wouldn’t want one of my children to talk that way towards one of their friends. It’s inappropriate and it’s frankly unnecessary. For heaven’s sakes, he won on this. It was a victory for him. He could have said nothing and just left it at that. And it’s just––it’s not helpful. It’s rude. It’s unnecessary, not helpful.”

The congressman argued that Trump’s record has been good so far and he should avoid “unpresidential and not helpful” incidents like this.
