Governor Suggests Trump Is in ‘Cognitive Decline’ and Has ‘Forgotten Who He’s Running Against’

Colorado Governor Jared Polis hit back at Donald Trump after the former president cast the city of Aurora as a dystopian hellscape.

Speaking in Aurora on Friday, Trump claimed that immigrants have “invaded and conquered” the city. Aurora went viral over the summer after an apartment building owner released a video of gang members inside. Trump and other Republicans went on to falsely claim that a gang of immigrants had taken over the building.

It was the second day in a row Trump bashed the city where he was speaking. The day before in Detroit, he alleged that if Vice President Kamala Harris wins the election, “Our whole country will end up being like Detroit.” Trump blamed Harris and Polis for migrants in Colorado.

Hours later, the governor appeared on CNN’s The Source, where Kaitlan Collins made an observation about the former president’s attack on him.

“What I was thinking about listening to it is he was using the same terms and to attack you that he also used to attack a popular Republican governor in Georgia,” she said. “I mean, he called Brian Kemp also weak and ineffective. And it’s just it wasn’t even just to you. You’re a Democrat, obviously. You’ve criticized him, but he’s also said the same thing about governors in his own party.”

Polis responded by suggesting Trump is in cognitive decline.

“Some say it’s cognitive decline, whatever it is,” Polis replied. “But the more he’s distracted and attacking people like Governor Kemp or me – whether they’re Republican or Democrat – maybe he’s forgotten who he’s running against. And I think that’s great because I support Kamala Harris and I think she’ll be a great president. So, you know, let him attack all these other people and try to settle all of these grudges he has. And I don’t think that’s what the American people want ”
