Joe Scarborough Goes Off on ‘Absolute Clowns’ Trashing Trump Coverage: ‘We’re in a Fight for American Democracy’

Joe Scarborough rebuked those who would complain about the media’s coverage of Donald Trump by pointing to the necessity of tracking the former president’s blatantly xenophobic comments.

Morning Joe started Monday off by looking at Trump’s 2024 rally in New Hampshire, where he approvingly quoted dictators and went off on how South American, African, and Asian immigrants are “poisoning the blood of our country.” Since this is only the latest example of Trump’s stridently anti-immigrant rhetoric, Mika Brzezinski reminded viewers that the media covers this because Trump is still the Republican frontrunner, and “this cannot be normalized.”

As Scarborough agreed “it’s getting worse” from Trump, he then turned to those who complain about the coverage he gets for these antics without acknowledging why they’re newsworthy.

“I am still shocked by the clowns who claim to be media critics out there, just absolute clowns that attack the media for reporting this,” Scarborough said. “It sounds like you just don’t get it. You don’t understand his connection with the audience. You just have to understand you’re actually helping him by focusing on saying he is fascist.”

After blasting Trump for putting himself adjacent to dictators, Scarborough continued his retort to media critics by saying, “The fact that fools that are covering the horse race would somehow attack writers, journalists for recording this and putting it to the readers.” He also explained that when reporters put Trump’s remarks into full context, it becomes clear: “We’re in a fight for American democracy, and he’s becoming more and more explicit on how he wants to take American democracy down.”
