Jorge Ramos Challenges Tucker Carlson to ‘Tell the Truth’ About Caravan: ‘Don’t Lie to Your Audience’

Tucker Carlson interviewed Jorge Ramos Tuesday, and the Univision anchor challenged his Fox News host to “tell the truth” about President Donald Trump‘s claims that “Middle Easterners” have infiltrated the migrant caravan moving through Mexico.

Trump, apparently inspired by Fox & Friends, has claimed this week that “unknown Middle Easterners” have joined the caravan of Central American migrants making its way towards the U.S. border. When asked for proof of his claim by CNN’s Jim Acosta on Tuesday, Trump said: “There’s no proof of anything. There’s no proof of anything. But they could very well be.”

On Tucker Carlson’s show Tuesday night, Ramos called on the Fox News host to fact-check Trump’s claims for his audience.

“I spent two days with these refugees and I have not seen a single person from the Middle East,” Ramos, who was stationed in Huixtla, Mexico, said. “That’s a lie. And I think, Tucker, you have to tell the truth to your audience, and you have to make sure that people are not lying about this caravan. Because people from the Middle East are not part of this caravan.”

Carlson dodged, arguing that he’s not in Mexico and so cannot describe the people joining the caravan. He then asked Ramos how many migrants he’s personally taking into his home.

Ramos dismissed the question, returning to his plea. “Don’t lie to your audience,” Ramos said. “What you, and Fox News, and President Trump are saying about this group is a complete lie.”

Carlson made one last attempt to ask how many migrants Ramos is taking into his home in Miami, and Ramos held that the crisis “has nothing to do with individuals.”
