Man Who Sent Out Hawaii Missile False Alarm Speaks Out: I Was ‘100% Sure’ It Was Real

NBC Nightly News tonight scored an exclusive interview with the individual who sent out that false alarm about a missile heading for Hawaii.

There have been a lot of serious questions about how the alert was sent out in the first place, and the unnamed man tells NBC News’ Jacob Soboroff that he was “100% sure that it was the right decision” because at the time, he believed it was real.

“I heard this was a drill,” he said. “I didn’t hear ‘exercise’ at all.”

He does, of course, feel terrible in hindsight about what it resulted in.
