‘Oh, THAT’S Hilarious?!’ Tarlov Clashes with Gutfeld After He Blames Democrats for Trump Shooting and Defends Image of a Kidnapped Biden

Jessica Tarlov returned to Fox News from maternity leave on Monday and it did not take long for her to mix it up once again with co-host Greg Gutfeld on The Five.

Former President Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt at a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday after being shot in the ear. One rally-goer was killed and two others were wounded. The motive of the would-be presidential assassin – who was killed by Secret Service – has yet to be determined, but he was a registered Republican who once donated $15 to a Democratic fundraising platform.

Republicans and conservative pundits have seized on the shooting and blamed Democrats, citing the common refrain from them that Trump is a threat to democracy because he attempted to overturn the 2020 election, which he lost. The right-wing has touted comments President Joe Biden made during a recent private fundraiser in which he told donors to put Trump in a bullseye. On Monday, the president suggested that rhetoric was a “mistake.”

Tarlov pushed back on claims that violent political speech is a Democratic problem. Her remarks prompted a strong reaction from Gutfeld:

TARLOV: Nobody who’s being an honest broker can possibly believe that the Democratic rhetoric she problem here… Donald Trump sent a fund-raising email just last week that said Joe Biden is a threat to democracy. And only one of these candidates has inspired people to send pipe bombs to leading Democrats across the country, who has inspired mass shooters.

Talk about firing up the base, Donald Trump has been doing that since 2016. Remember when he said the Second Amendment people could take care of it when everybody was talking about Hillary Clinton abolishing the Second Amendment and she’ll get to appoint judges?

He talked about– remember that congressman from Montana who body-slammed a reporter and he said he’s my type.

He re-truthed or whatever it was a video of Joe Biden hogtied just–

GUTFELD: Oh, come on! That was hilarious!

TARLOV: Oh, that’s hilarious?!

GUTFELD: We’re talking about an attempted assassination that left a man dead, the shooter [was] groomed and incentivized by a drumbeat of demonization–

TARLOV: You have no idea what that registered Republican was groomed by.
