Orrin Hatch Defends Brett Kavanaugh: ‘Somebody’s Mixed Up,’ I Think Christine Ford is ‘Mistaken’

Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT) offered a rebuke to CNN with regards to the Christine Ford‘s sexual assault allegations against Brett Kavanaugh.

For the last few days, the political world was shaken by Ford’s claim that Kavanaugh got drunk and tried to rape her while they were both in high school. Hatch has been adamant about proceeding with Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court nomination in spite of these claims, and when he spoke to Manu Raju on Monday, he insisted that Ford is “mistaken” with her accusations.

“I talked to [Kavanaugh] on the phone today…[he said] he didn’t do that, and he wasn’t at the party,” Hatch said. “So, you know, clearly, somebody’s mixed up.”

Raju continued to present questions to Hatch, asking if he believes Kavanaugh’s accuser.

“I think she’s mistaken,” Hatch answered. “I think she’s…she’s mistaken something that I don’t know. I mean, I don’t know her.”
