Psaki Says ‘We’re Not Going to Lock Down Our Economy’ or Schools: We’re in ‘Much Stronger Place’ Now
White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Friday that the U.S. is “not going to lock down our economy” or schools again because it’s in “a much stronger place” than months ago.
After the release of the latest jobs report, Psaki was asked by one reporter if Americans “should expect an economic slowdown” because of the spread of the Delta variant.
“This is not March 2020 or even January 2021,” Psaki responded. “We’re not going to lock down our economy or our schools because our country’s in a much stronger place than when we took office.”
“We are not going back. We are not turning back the clock.”
As of this posting, the CDC reports that the U.S. is very close to reaching half of the entire country being fully vaccinated. Over 70 percent of adults have gotten at least one dose, and that includes over 90 percent of all seniors.
