Richard Gere Admits He Almost Forgot Today Was 9/11 On GMA
Over a decade after the attacks of September 11th, the tragedy has not faded from our collective memory, but it has waned. Events that we pledge to never forget will inevitably be forgotten to some degree as life moves on. That was perhaps best encapsulated by actor Richard Gere on Good Morning America today, who just before recounting what happened to him on 9/11, admitted to George Stephanopoulos that he didn’t realize it was September 11th until he came on the show.
Gere spoke with Stephanopoulos immediately following a moment of silence at the 9/11 memorial in New York today that was broadcast live.
Gere recalled that exactly eleven years ago, he was heading to a retreat in Massachusetts on a beautiful day and he did not have the radio on. When he arrived, he found out what had happened, and the first thing he did was call home to check on his family.
