Ro Khanna Rebukes Dem Colleague Ilhan Omar for Warning Americans Should Be ‘Fearful’ of White Men

Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) blasted his colleague Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) over past comments in which she said people should be more “fearful” of white men.

Khanna joined James Carville and Al Hunt on their Politicon podcast this week and made it clear he disagrees with Omar, declaring, “White Americans have done enormous things for our freedom.”

Khanna said:

I strongly disagree with Ilhan Omar to, in her, just on a substantive level. I think that white Americans have done enormous things for our freedom. I mean, who were the people who scaled the cliffs of Normandy? Many of them were whit men. It’s not just I disagree politically, I disagree substantively. This is a great country. It is a kind country. It is decent country. It is a country that has allowed an Indian-American son of immigrants of Hindu faith to go represent the most economically prosperous place in the world. That would not be possible anywhere else.

The congressman recommended Democrats speak more positively about America, arguing they should start every speech by saying the U.S. is the “greatest” and “least racist” country in the world.

Omar’s 2018 comments have been going viral, even earning pushback from Vice President JD Vance who accused her of using “genocidal language.” Carville also blasted Omar over her comments.

While speaking about hatred against Muslims and the threat of “jihadism,” Omar told Al Jazeera, “I would say our country should be more fearful of White men across our country, because they are actually causing most of the deaths within this country.”

Omar bit back at Vance after he commented on her years-old interview.

“In this nearly 8yr old clip, I am referring to the rise of white nationalism in an annual report issued by the Anti-Defamation League that said white supremacists were responsible for 78 percent of ‘extremist-related murders,'” she wrote on X.
