Scarborough: GOP Has ‘Become The Party of Wikileaks and Edward Snowden’

MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough tore into Republicans for their promotion and release of the Nunes memo — which purported to demonstrate surveillance abuses by the FBI and DOJ — but for the Morning Joe anchor is little more than a weak attempt to run interference for President Donald Trump.

Mika Brzezinski first covered on Monday an AP report that White House aides cautioned Trump that the memo was less of a bombshell than it was being hyped up to be.

Scarborough then went after “stooges in conservative media” who are holding up the Nunes memo as evidence that the FISA warrant sought to surveil Carter Page was obtained illicitly — noting that the justification for obtaining the warrant is classified.

“And they know it,” Scarborough exclaimed. “The Wall Street Journal is now parroting Devin Nunes.”

“They’ve become the party of Wikileaks and Edward Snowden,” Scarborough said. “I guess it was only a matter of time until Donald Trump’s thinking infecting the entire Republican party, even on intel matters.”

Later in the segment, Scarborough lambasted House Speaker Paul Ryan for going along with the undermining of U.S. intelligence communities.
