‘Somewhat Of A Gut Punch’: Watch Fox News Segment That Clearly Sparked Trump’s New Hampshire Rage

A segment on Fox and Friends covering a New Hampshire poll result with former President Donald Trump and rival Nikki Haley in a tight race is what clearly sent the GOP frontrunner into a rage on Truth Social on Friday morning.

“This has had to feel somewhat of a gut punch for the former president of the United States,” said host Brian Kilmeade introducing what was a lengthy segment on the horse race based on a new poll out of New Hampshire that had Haley just 4 points behind Trump.

Along with Lawrence Jones and Carley Shimkus, the hosts discussed a new American Research Group poll showing Haley with 29% support against Trump’s 33% in New Hampshire. The surge comes after the state’s Republican Gov. Chris Sununu endorsed her in the GOP presidential primary.

The poll also showed Chris Christie in third at 13% and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis falling to fourth at 6%.

The segment featured clips from a Sununu interview on the subject of Haley’s recent polling, and was heavily caveated by the Fox News hosts, with word like “outlier” popping up and plenty of red meat about it being bad to criticize Trump if you want to win over Republican voters.

Nevertheless, Trump was VERY NOT PLEASED.

KILMEADE: This is had to feel somewhat of a gut punch for the former president United States. For the first time, we see a poll that Fox News supports. This is reputable and this is a first, I think the second major one since governor senator endorsed Governor Haley. That Governor Haley is within four points of Donald Trump in New Hampshire.

SHIMKUS: Yeah, that’s right. So 33 to 29%. This is an American Research Group poll which is based in New Hampshire. And this could be seen as a bit of an outlier poll. There was a CBS News poll that still showed Nikki Haley surging, but Trump 15 points ahead. So possibly a bit of an outlier, but certainly one that’s making headlines. Most polls show Donald Trump in national polls up by 30 points. So is Haley inching closer to Donald Trump since Governor Sununu’s endorsement? That’s the big question this morning.

Trump’s angry Truth Social post didn’t mention the segment but did trash any future coverage of the poll or Sununu, and it came right on the heels of the segment so the math isn’t calculus here.

Despite the recent surge for Haley, a Real Clear Politics polling average in New Hampshire shows Trump is still ahead by 21 points with 46.3% support against Haley at 24.8%.
