Trump Advisor Defends Attacking Accusers’ Appearance: They ‘Brought Looks into the Equation’
A. J. Delgado, a senior advisor to Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, argued Sunday on MSNBC that it would be perfectly okay for Trump to rebut claims of sexual assault by responding that his accusers were ugly.
Delgado said that Trump was actually not debasing his accuser’s appearance when he told a crowd to “Look at her!” at a rally Friday. “I use the phrase ‘look at Hillary Clinton’ when I’m referring to the person or the story or the position.,” she pointed out.
But Delgado went on to argue that if Trump did assail her looks, that was legitimate. “When you have somebody claiming that you sexually assaulted them, you’ve brought looks into the equation,” she argued.
“If somebody said, ‘A.J. was attracted to me and touched me in an inappropriate manner,’ it’s relevant to the discussion whether that person is the type of person that I would normally be attracted to,” she continued. “He hasn’t mentioned looks, but if he did, it would be germane to the discussion. I wouldn’t find that offensive.”
