President Trump is not backing down from his refutation of Rep. Frederica Wilson’s claims with regard to his phone call to the family of Sgt. La David T. Johnson.
As Trump held a White House discussion on tax reform, the president was asked about his tweet where he claimed to have evidence which disproves Wilson’s account about his alleged, callous remarks to Johnson’s grieving widow. Both sides claim to have proof for their sides of the quarrel, and Trump continues to insist there’s nothing to Wilson’s remarks
“I didn’t say what that congresswoman said. Didn’t say it at all. She knows it, and she now is not saying it. I did not say what she said, and I’d like her to make the statement again because I did not say what she said. I had a very nice conversation with the woman, with the wife – who sounded like a lovely woman – did not say what the congresswoman said and most people aren’t too surprised to hear that…let her make her statement again and then you’ll find out.”
Wilson might’ve been following along with Trump on TV, because she tweeted this shortly after the president gave his remarks:
I still stand by my account of the call b/t @realDonaldTrump and Myeshia Johnson. That is her name, Mr. Trump. Not “the woman” or “the wife”

Earlier today, Johnson’s mother told reporters that the president was disrespectful to them, and that Wilson’s statements are correct.
