President Donald Trump expressed sympathy to Paul Manafort on Wednesday in his first public statements on the new sentence for his former campaign CEO.
“I feel very badly for Paul Manafort,” Trump said. “I feel badly for him. I think it’s a very sad situation…Certainly on a human basis it is very sad thing. I feel badly for him.”
Later on, Trump was asked if he would pardon Manafort now that he’s facing over 7 years in prison for his consecutive sentences.
“I have not even given it a thought as of this moment,” Trump said before he was asked for his thoughts on Manafort being indicted on multiple charges for alleged state felonies.
