‘Trump Knows Nothing About Service!’ Tim Walz Goes On the Attack at Rally, Amid Claims He Embellished Military Record

Democratic Minnesota Governor Tim Walz ripped former President Donald Trump as a man who knows “nothing about service” at a rally with his running mate in Las Vegas on Saturday night amid allegations he embellished his military career.

Walz has spent a week facing a torrent of allegations he lied about his rank, misrepresented his role during a deployment and abandoned his National Guard unit before it was set to deploy to the Middle East in 2005.

The governor retired and ran for Congress as his unit was sent overseas.

Last week, Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) said he took the call to deploy to Iraq as a U.S. Marine but claimed Walz ducked service on the battlefield.

“When Tim Walz was asked by his country to go to Iraq, he dropped out of the Army and allowed his unit to go without him. I think that’s shameful,” Vance said.

Trump, who did not serve in the armed forces, similarly hit Walz on his Truth Social page when he shared a Newsweek article that quoted veterans who were critical of how Walz retired from the National Guard after 24 years.

“WALZ IS A DISGRACE TO OUR COUNTRY, BUT KAMALA IS FAR WORSE!” Trump wrote.

In Vegas, Walz took a swipe at Trump and Vance before he introduced Vice President Kamala Harris to a crowd of supporters. Walz said:

Now each of you came here. You came here because you love your country. You came here because you know a fantastic leader is going to walk out those doors here in a minute or two – the person you see bringing everything to us. But let’s be very clear here: Donald Trump sees the world very differently than all of us here. Each of you talk about service. Donald Trump knows nothing about service. it’s pretty hard to provide service to others when you’re too busy looking out for only yourself.”
