Trump Rips FBI Director Wray for Not Using Word Spying: He Gave a ‘Ridiculous Answer’
President Donald Trump went after Chris Wray on Tuesday for pushing back on the idea that his 2016 campaign was improperly spied upon.
As Trump took questions from the White House press pool, he was asked if he has “confidence” in Wray after the FBI director testified before Congress and said he disagrees with Attorney General William Barr‘s characterization of the FBI’s counterintelligence operations. Trump said “I didn’t understand” Wray’s answer because Barr “answered it perfectly” during his own recent appearance before Congress.
“I thought it was a ridiculous answer,” Trump said of Wray.
Trump’s remarks come shortly after he parroted a supporter of his who said the FBI “has no leadership” and that Wray is “protecting the same gang that tried to overthrow the President through an illegal coup.”
