Trump Says He Has ‘Great Love’ for DREAMers After Ending DACA
After delivering a statement at a tax reform meeting at the White House this afternoon, reporters tossed out questions to the president asking about the huge story of the day — the Trump administration’s decision to rescind the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).
“I have a great heart for the folks we’re talking about,” Trump stated when asked how his action showed heart. “A great love for them. People think in terms of children, but they’re really young adults.”
He continued, “I have a love for these people and hopefully now Congress will be able to help them and do it properly. and I can tell you in speaking to members of Congress, they want to be able to do something and do it right.”
He also noted that there was “no choice” and that he feels that it’s all going to work out “very well” and will be the “right solution.”
Shortly after these comments, Trump sent out the following tweet:
I look forward to working w/ D's + R's in Congress to address immigration reform in a way that puts hardworking citizens of our country 1st.

Prior to announcing the wind-down of the program that provided young undocumented immigrants protection from deportation, Trump had said that he’d show “great heart” in dealing with DACA recipients.
