Trump’s Attorney General Claims Judge ‘Has No Right’ To Question DOJ’s Deportation Flights
Attorney General Pam Bondi excoriated a federal judge for daring to ask the Justice Department questions after the Trump administration ignored one of his orders.
Last week, President Donald Trump began deporting Venezuelan nationals that the administration claims are members of the notorious Tren de Aragua gang. To circumvent laws governing removal proceedings, Trump invoked the 1798 Alien Enemies Act, which until now had only been used during the War of 1812 and both world wars. The migrants were sent to a notorious prison in El Salvador.
On Saturday, U.S. District Judge James Boasberg issued a two-week restraining order on the deportations and ordered any planes carrying migrants to turn around and return to the U.S. The government ignored the order, as one lawyer for the Department of Justice claimed he did not think the order had force because it was issued verbally.
In response, Boasberg has given DOJ attorneys until Thursday to provide “the following details regarding each of the two flights leaving U.S. airspace before 7:25 p.m. on March 15, 2025: 1) What time did the plane take off from U.S. soil and from where? 2) What time did it leave U.S. airspace? 3) What time did it land in which foreign country (including if it made more than one stop)? 4) What time were individuals subject solely to the Proclamation transferred out of U.S. custody? and 5) How many people were aboard solely on the basis of the Proclamation?”
Appearing on Wednesday’s edition of The Will Cain Show on Fox News, Bondi slammed the judge and alleged he had no business ruling against the administration or seeking information about the flights.
“Our lawyers are working on this,” she said. “But what I will tell you is this judge has no right to ask those questions. You have one unelected federal judge trying to control foreign policies, trying to control the Alien Enemies Act, which they have no business presiding over… The judge had no business, no power to do what he did.”
She later added, “We will honor what the court says, but we will appeal and we will continue to fight terrorists within our country. We’re not gonna stop.”
Trump has also lashed out at Boasberg.
“This judge, like many of the Crooked Judges’ I am forced to appear before, should be IMPEACHED!!!” he wrote on Truth Social.”
