WATCH: Governor Cuomo Defiantly Dismisses ‘Slurs and Slander’ in First Press Event With Reporters Present in Months

In the first, fully in-person press conference he’s had in months, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (D) flatly denied the sexual misconduct allegations leveled against him by multiple accusers.

Even though Cuomo has done press conferences over the last few months, he stopped holding in-person Q&As during the last weeks of 2020 and adopted a new format of taking questions over the phone. On Monday, Cuomo took questions as he spoke outside of the Fairgrounds outside of Syracuse, and he was immediately confronted on how he’s still under investigation amid multiple accusations of sexual harassment.

“Can you tell the people of the state of New York, yes or no, did you do the things you are accused of,” a reporter asked. Cuomo offered a flat “no” in response, but he was asked follow-up questions on whether he would resign if Attorney General Tish James finds evidence of his sexual misconduct.

“The report can’t say anything different because I didn’t do anything wrong,” Cuomo responded.

Cuomo also fielded questions about a recent report claiming that he used anti-trans slurs and disparaging comments about Jewish people. He denied making any such comments, saying “They printed slurs and slander, and you’d have to ask them why they did that.”

People say a lot of things in politics…People are venal, people want attention, people are angry, people are jealous. Who knows why people spread rumors?

Cuomo also remains under investigation for allegedly misusing state resources to promote his book about leadership amid the coronavirus pandemic, plus the accusations surrounding his nursing home scandal.
