WATCH LIVE: Sarah Sanders Holds First White House Press Briefing Since Red Hen Controversy
White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders will hold a briefing today to discuss President Donald Trump’s latest plans and administrative agenda. The briefing is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET.
Its been a week since Sanders held her last press briefing, so there’s bound to be a mountain of questions about the Trump Administration’s policy of separating immigrant children from their parents at the U.S. Southern border. Trump initially blamed Democrats for his administration’s policy and said it was all up to Congress to fix America’s immigration laws, but he eventually signed an executive order to end the family separation policy. Even so, the issue continues to be a leading news topic.
Sanders is also quite likely to take this opportunity to talk about how she and her family were kicked out of a restaurant over the weekend. Since the owners of Red Hen threw out the press secretary because of her affiliation with Trump, the controversy has prompted a discussion about who’s to blame for the decline of civility in America. This comes after Florida AG Pam Bondi, DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, and White House adviser Stephen Miller were also harassed by protestors recently when they were spotted during public outings.
Other questions that might come up include Trump’s tweets about illegal immigrants “invading the country,” his apparent call to deport them without due process, and the brewing feud between the president and Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA).
