Will Cain Suggests the Rise in Gen Z LGTBQ+ is Due to Disney Feeding Them ‘These Messages’

Will Cain suggested that a rise in the percentage of Gen Z who self-identify as LGTBQ+ could be a result of Disney content. While the Fox & Friends host didn’t say it explicitly, his message was clear Friday morning. Disney is making your kids queer. And no, he did not snap his fingers or use the word “fabulous” after.

At issue is a leaked zoom call message in which the child of Disney executive Karey Burke claimed her son texted that “Gen Z is 30% to 40% queerer than other generations Mom, so Disney better get with it.”

This leaked message was obtained by Christopher Rufo, who was the architect of the Critical Race Theory wedge issue that was so effective in getting Governor Glenn Youngkin elected in Virginia, by the way.

Cain then noted a recent Gallup poll that said one in five Gen Z identifies as LGBTQ before asking what does that mean to identify?

“What does it entail? What does it encompass? What is more interesting to me is why?” he asked.  “Is it because, you know, they are true of this persuasion, or is it because it’s a chicken or egg theme,” he continued. “They are being fed these messages over and over from places like Disney and now the numbers are going up?”

Kids may very well be self-identifying as LGTBQ because of the shows they are watching, was Cain’s summation. Disney makes you gay? Maybe, suggests the Fox News host.

This, of course, ignores a completely plausible explanation for the rise in individuals who self-identify as LGTBQ: we live in a more accepting society. Maybe, there has always been this percentage of LGTBQ and the only difference is in the number who now feel comfortable saying so out loud. Just spit-balling here.

It’s the latest chapter of the moral panic on display by conservative media, angry that Disney has been a vocal opponent of a recent Florida bill that disallows any curriculum about gender and gender identity to be taught to children from kindergarten to third grade.

Critics have dubbed it the “Don’t Say Gay bill” which has only served the purpose of the politically divisive wedge issue, that may have been one cynical reason behind it.

Oh, and by the way? It’s actually a popular bill according to recent polls. More people find it entirely reasonable to have conversations with kids at what is conventionally considered a more age-appropriate grade.

But conservative media want to go after Disney for not just the vocal opposition to the bill, but also for reports of more inclusive messaging throughout the theme park and Disney products.
