‘You Just Made Him Pay You $10 Million?!’ Hannity Incredulously Asks Trump and Musk About the Lawsuit They Settled
Fox News host Sean Hannity spoke incredulously during a joint interview with President Donald Trump and Elon Musk when asking the pair about a lawsuit that they settled.
In an interview that aired Tuesday night but was recorded last week, Hannity referred to a lawsuit Trump filed against Twitter after its previous ownership banned him after the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot.
Musk absorbed responsibility for Trump’s lawsuit when he bought the platform in 2022 and renamed it to X. The Associated Press reported last week Musk’s X settled with Trump for $10 million.
To open his interview with Trump and Musk, Hannity made note of the settlement.
“I’ve got to start with this,” Hannity said. “So, he’s working for free with DOGE. He’s kind of put a lot of his life on hold and you sued Twitter a number of years ago, and you just made him pay you $10 million?!”
Trump said, “That’s right. That’s right. I sued from long before he had it. And I mean, they really did a number on me, you know, And I sued and they had to pay. They paid a $10 million settlement.”
Hannity looked at Musk and said, “You’re okay with that? ”
Musk replied, “I mean, I left it up to the lawyers and the team running Twitter, so I said, you guys do what you think is the right– makes sense.”
Trump replied, “I think it’s very low. I was looking to get much more money than that,”
The president added Musk got a “big discount” as Hannity noted the two had become close friends.
“He’s working for free for you,” Hannity said.
Musk called Trump and “good man” and concluded, “Well, I love the president, I just want to be clear about that.”
