GB News Guest Gulps Raw Egg on Air in Bizarre Stand Against American Vandal’s Protest
GB News’ resident American contributor, comedian Lewis Schaffer, swallowed an egg live on air to protest the vandalism of American Instagram user Walter Masterson, who flew over crossed the Atlantic just to egg the network’s London offices.
Host Andrew Doyle presented the story, as Schaffer cracked an egg into a glass and drank it.
Fellow panelist Cressida Wetton was quick to point out that this was the “second example of people using eggs just for attention.”
Masterson’s viral video begins with a humorous double-take moment after he is shocked to discover GB News, which he brands Britain’s equivalent to “Fox News.” What follows is a whimsical journey of a jumbo-sized egg, marked with a smiley face, being packed into a suitcase and accompanying the man on his transatlantic adventure.
As the video unfolds, viewers are treated to a montage of the egg’s travels. It makes appearances at various iconic London spots, including the House of Parliament, Brick Lane, and Borough Market. The egg even graces the Old Vic theatre near Waterloo Station, a Comedy Club, and a high-end restaurant, complete with a backdrop of exquisite desserts and a smartly-dressed waiter.
In a more politically charged scene, the egg is featured against the backdrop of a pro-Palestine march, surrounded by demonstrators waving Palestinian flags.
The climax of this quirky odyssey occurs outside the GB News offices. After a brief glimpse at a smartphone screen displaying the news channel’s address, the scene cuts to the building’s entrance. The egg is thrown at the revolving glass doors, splattering yolk over the doorway. The thrower then raises their middle finger in a provocative salute before smiling triumphantly at the camera, fist clenched in apparent victory.
In the studio, in various shows over the past day, GB News hosts have been keen to deny that they are the Fox News equivalent.
“That’s wrong,” Doyle said in his segment. “This is not Fox News, it’s completely different. It’s not run by [Rupert] Murdoch, there is another channel [TalkTV] that is run by Murdoch — but we won’t mention that.”
The conservative news network, billed as “opinion-led” and “anti-woke,” has been compared to the U.S. right-wing network since its conception.
