Good Morning Britain Host Brands Attack On World Central Kitchen Convoy ‘An Execution’

Good Morning Britain host Richard Madeley branded the killing of seven humanitarian aid workers by Israel as “an execution.”

Madeley was reviewing the newspapers and the day’s stories with his panel when he reflected on the emerging details of how the attack on the World Central Kitchen convoy unfolded Monday.

The host said: “This execution, which is what it was, effectively, this execution of seven aid workers, feels like some sort of watershed this morning, doesn’t it? Because this time yesterday, as the news was breaking, the general assumption was, before the details came through, that it was probably some sort of awful collateral damage, that these workers had been killed incidentally in some other kind of conflict. But now we know that it was extremely targeted.”

The Israeli Defence Force (IDF) initially described the attack as “an unintended strike” and said it would appoint an independent body to carry out an investigation. Sources within the IDF told Israeli newspaper Haaretz that the vehicles were hit three times by missiles fired by a drone. IDF operators reportedly believed that a member of Hamas was travelling with the convoy. The vehicles, two armoured and one soft shell, were clearly bearing the World Central Kitchen logo and had reportedly been in contact with the IDF who were aware of their coordinates and movement through that particular area.

Madeley continued: “The first vehicle was hit in a small convoy. Some of the workers survived and managed to get out and get into another vehicle. That moved off. That was hit. Then there was one third vehicle that was still proceeding, and about a kilometre later, that was hit. So they were hit three separate times.”

Showing images of the hole punched in the roof of one of the vehicles by the missile, Madeley added: “And just look at this. I mean, this is bullseye aiming. Absolutely no accidental collateral damage here at all. This is an execution.”

World Central Kitchen said three British volunteers were killed alongside an Australian, a Palestinian, a US-Canadian citizen and a Polish citizen. The incident has been widely criticised by western governments and has led to calls for action in pausing the sale of arms to Israel.
