‘Bulls**t’: Piers Morgan Clashes With NHS Doctor’s Claim Hamas Is ‘Resistance Organisation’

TalkTV host Piers Morgan called “bullshit” on guest Abdul Wahid’s claim that Hamas had legitimacy as a “resistance organisation” in a fiery debate on Monday’s show, in which his guest also advocated for a united Islamist military response to end “apartheid.”

Wahid, whose real name is Dr. Wahid Asif Shaida, is an NHS doctor and also leader of Hizb ut-Tahrir’s British branch. Hizb ut-Tahrir is an international pan-Islamist and Islamic fundamentalist political organisation. Under a barrage of questions from Morgan, Dr.Shaida sought to defend and explain his views and the views of his organisation.

Dr. Shaida, who also trains newly qualified doctors in London, was reported in the Mail On Sunday as having called the deadly October 7 attacks on Israel, which killed around 1,200 people, mostly civilians, a “very welcome punch on the nose.” He also was reported to have referred to Hamas fighters as “brave Mujahideen.”

Pressing his guest, Morgan asked if he believed Hamas were a “terror group.”

“I believe it’s a resistance organisation,” Dr Shaida responded.

“Okay, do you think what they did on October 7th was a terror attack?” Morgan said.

“I believe that if civilians got killed on that day then it is appalling,” replied Dr. Shaida.

“If?” Morgan responded. “You’re a doctor, man! You’re a doctor in the NHS, 1,200 people got massacred!”

“One percent of the population of Gaza have died,” the guest said, prompting the host to affirm that he acknowledged the plight of Gazan civilians under Israel’s retaliatory operation.

The debate, moving fast, quickly shifted to the broader history of the Israel-Palestine conflict and, as Dr. Shaida argued, the context for the Hamas attack.

Dr. Shaida asked: “What is a proportionate response to 60 years living in a cage?”

“Not a terror attack,” Morgan said.

“Is it acceptable to attack the IDF?” the guest asked.

After some back and forth, Dr Shaida went on to explain his organisation’s position, in line with its pan-Islamist aims: “What we want is a military intervention from Muslim armies to rescue a beleaguered people and replace an apartheid system…”

Drawing back, Morgan declared that everything was “wrong” about the historic scenario – whether violence inflicted on Palestinians or on Israelis.

Dr. Shaida argued that the framing of Morgan’s debate was off, having presented his organisation’s position for a united Islamic response to Gaza.

Returning to Hamas and October 7th, Morgan claimed his guest did not believe the attack happened. Dr. Shaida repeated that he did believe it happened, and that “1200 people were killed.”

Morgan prompted his guest further: “…by terrorists?”

“By people who were resisting an occupation,” Dr. Shaida said.

“Bullshit, they’re terrorists,” Morgan said, slapping his papers on the desk.

The guest responded, disagreeing that this was the only rational way to view the situation: “Have you not heard the adage: ‘One man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter’?”

Again, in blunt retort, Morgan shot back: “Bullshit.”

Dr. Shaida, defending the Palestinian right to resist, cited a blend of religious and historical references, including a reference to British war-time Prime Minister Winston Churchill’s History of the English-Speaking Peoples.

Morgan’s probing also led Dr. Shaida to share his view of homosexuality as a sin and his support for the implementation of sharia law in predominantly Muslim nations.
