Piers Morgan Offers Kevin Spacey ‘Fair Hearing’ As Actor Slams Channel 4 Over New Allegations
Piers Morgan offered Kevin Spacey a fair hearing as the actor publicly attacked Channel 4 over a new documentary.
Piers Morgan seized the opportunity to offer actor Kevin Spacey a “fair” interview as the actor publicly blasted Channel 4 for not providing him enough time to respond to new allegations made against him in a forthcoming docuseries.
The two-part documentary Spacey Unmasked claims to offer a deep dive into Spacey’s life with “never-seen-before interviews and archive” footage, tracing his journey from childhood to his rapid ascent in Hollywood.
Following his acquittal in July 2023 of sexual assault charges involving four men, which was one of the UK’s most prominent #MeToo trials, the documentary claims to explore other allegations of misconduct. The series reportedly features discussions with several men, previously unconnected to the trial, who will share their personal encounters with Spacey for the first time.
Spacey, however, criticised Channel 4 on Thursday for not providing “sufficient details” on the new allegations, claiming the network allowed him only a week to respond to “new, anonymized, and non-specific allegations” that date back 48 years.
“I will not sit back and be attacked by a dying network’s one-sided “documentary” about me in their desperate attempt for ratings. There’s a proper channel to handle allegations against me and it’s not Channel 4,” Spacey said on X.
He added: “Each time I have been given the time and a proper forum to defend myself, the allegations have failed under scrutiny and I have been exonerated.”
Channel 4 pushed back on the actor’s demand for an extension to reply, claiming their timeline was a “fair opportunity” for response.
Responding to Spacey’s post, Morgan interjected to invite him to air his side of the story on his show Piers Morgan Uncensored.
Morgan tweeted: “Come on @PiersUncensored and I will give you a fair hearing that will be watched around the world.”
Spacey Unmasked is set to air on Channel 4 on May 6 and 7 in the UK, and will be available on Max in the US.
