NBC’s Tom Brokaw Calls For ‘New Crusade’ Against Guns After Newsroom Shooting

NBC Nightly News legend Tom Brokaw spoke out about the Annapolis, Maryland mass shooting that took place in a newsroom yesterday, tweeting that the rise of gun violence in America calls for “a new crusade.”

“The newsroom shooting, like all others this year makes me physically ill,” Brokaw said this morning of the five lives that were lost on Thursday. “It’s a shameful commentary. ‘got a problem? get a gun.’
guns aren’t going away but their homocidal use requires a new crusade.”

This is not the first time that Brokaw has come forward to call for gun reform in America. Following the Las Vegas, Nevada shooting last year, Brokaw said that military-style weapons with high capacity magazines need to be “adapted,” so as to be less deadly when put in the hands of nefarious actors.

“I think this is time for a national dialogue that we can have in a calm and reasonable way, in which the country can figure out, how come we have so many mass shootings in this country?” Brokaw asked in October 2017.
