A Tweet Mocking Twitter Outrage Was Used on TV as Example of Twitter Outrage
A tweet that was meant as clear mockery of non-stop Twitter outrage ended up being used on E! News as an example of Twitter outrage.
A few days ago, Bob Costas said that giving Caitlyn Jenner an ESPY for bravery is a “crass exploitation play” and there are more deserving people. John Ekdahl sent out this mocking tweet, anticipating PC outrage:
Disgusting and hateful thoughts from Bob Costas. He should be ashamed and maybe fired. #p2 http://t.co/Cy99EZCH5x

Well, in an E! News segment on Jenner tonight, Costas’ comments were briefly addressed and as an example of Twitter outrage, they cited Ekdahl’s tweet.
Which, frankly, amused the hell out of him:
HAHAHAHA RT @JKirk777: @JohnEkdahl E News. Heh pic.twitter.com/7U180trTg7

Awesome RT @JKirk777: @JohnEkdahl they implied you were the epitome of tolerance. You're a SJW hero now

.@ENews I was mocking the perpetual outrage mob, you clowns.

It begins! Tonight is gonna be awesome. https://t.co/TsbeDXwZM2

OMG, E! *ONLY* used me to prove "social media backlash". No other examples. https://t.co/ncbmsp4Q8y

Kind of proves my point that E! was searching for outrage, only found me, and bit anyway, huh?
— John Ekdahl (@JohnEkdahl) June 11, 2015
.@smittie61984 this path I have selflessly and heroically chosen has been walked before.
