Benghazi Survivor in Anti-Hillary Clinton Ad Sang a Different Tune in January
The National Rifle Association recently unveiled an ad ominously urging its members to “Stop Hillary Clinton,” an ad which starred Mark Geist, one of the Benghazi survivors whose story formed the basis of the film 13 Hours. The ad literally uses the graves of fallen soldiers as political props in order to attack Hillary Clinton, but just a few short months ago, Geist was singing a different tune about the politics of Benghazi, and about Hillary Clinton.
While promoting the film, Mark “Oz” Geist was asked if he held then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton “accountable” for the deaths that occurred in Benghazi, and he did not, and as recently as this month, insisted that his aim wasn’t political, but simply to honor the lives of the fallen:
June 22: It was never a political thing. It’s about honoring four Americans that gave their lives and also honoring those that served this country.
January 18: You know who I hold accountable is al-Sharia. That’s who attacked them. That’s who killed the ambassador.
Geist leveled restrained criticism of Clinton in other interviews, but now that the general election is in full swing, such restraint, along with reluctance to politicize the dead, has fallen away.
