BREAKING: At Least Five Dead, More Wounded in Shooting at Maryland Newsroom

 

At least five people were killed and others wounded following a shooting Thursday afternoon at the building of the The Capital newspaper in Annapolis, MD.

Acting chief of police for Anne Arundel County William Krampf said in a press conference that five people were confirmed dead and more were wounded in the shooting.

NBC News reported the suspect is Jarrod Ramos, a 38-year-old white male, who was in custody but not cooperating, and refused to identify himself. Ramos was identified with facial recognition technology, and that authorities are searching his home with a warrant, according to the outlet.

Fox News anchor Shepard Smith spoke with county sheriff Ron Bateman, who confirmed multiple fatalities at the shooting. He said one suspect had been apprehended at the scene.

The Capital, owned by The Baltimore Sun, is one of the oldest newspapers in the country.

Anthony Messenger, an intern at the newspaper, first reported that there was an active shooter at the newsroom, writing in a tweet, “please help us.”

Fox News’s Smith also reported that a shotgun was involved in the shooting.
