Clinton Cash Author: Stephanopoulos’ Ties to Clinton Foundation Go Much Deeper
Clinton Cash author Peter Schweizer condemned George Stephanopoulos Saturday for ties to the Clinton Foundation that ran much deeper than a series of contributions he failed to publicly disclose before interviewing Schweizer.
Schweizer pointed to Stephanopoulos’ involvement in many of the Foundation’s events, during which he interacted with many of the figures Schweizer alleged had improper exchanges with the Clinton. Stephanopoulos was listed as a “member” of the Foundation for several events, though that label is under dispute.
“Big-time news media personalities have one thing in very short supply — time,” Schweizer wrote in USA Today. “Regular participation in Clinton Foundation events shows a deeper commitment to the Clintons than just the donations.”
Stephanopoulos squared off against Schweizer in an interview last month, in which he questioned Schweizer’s evidence and said he had failed to locate any “smoking gun” against the Clintons.
“Yes, George made us aware that he was moderating these panels and that is absolutely within our guidelines,” ABC News told Schweizer. “We know that he would be listed as a member — as all moderators are. He is in good company of scores of other journalists that have moderated these panels.”
