Did Bob Beckel Swear On Hannity Last Night?

video

A rather important online debate is beginning to brew over what was said (or not said) on Hannity last night. And no, this debate isn’t over the definitions of socialism or marxism, nor is it over reconciliation versus a super-majority. People are beginning to weigh on what exactly delightfully curmudgeonly guest Bob Beckel said in response to a question from Sean Hannity. “Are you guys tired of this ____?” Listen for yourself and weigh-in on what you hear.

A tipster pointed us to Inside Cable News, who believes Beckel said “yet,” while others hear the word “shit.” Ours is not to reason why; we report, you decide.

Hahahaha…another Liberal media hack gone all ‘apoplectic’ on us. What does that make now…50? Poor Bob…this was supposed to be his ‘raining candy’ period of American politics. Now look at him.

    No. Next!

Beckel is not a compelling TV commentator. Then again, neither was Alan Colmes, when he paired up with Hannity. Hannity stacks the deck, as far as I can tell, and makes sure that liberal views are espoused by their least articulate defenders.

Of course, Maddow does the same thing on the Left. When she wants to debate a conservative, she digs up the least formidable ones she can find.

But that is at least better than Keith Olbermann, who is so afraid of debate, that he ducks it at every turn. That’s a ploy that is increasingly becoming known as the “Al Gore defense.”

Of course, the point is, Beckel didn’t say this. He said, “Are you guys tired of this yet?” He should have said, “Are you guys tired of this, yet?”

He is a poor commentator, but I am sure the RNC wouldn’t approve FOX using anyone but Beckel or an equally weak and poor commentator.

  • MichelleF

I’m not making a judgement, but I’ve heard him do it before, so it’s probably true.

Now King, you have to remember that most libs won’t go on fox, so isn’t their fault if they don’t have a good spokesperson on?

Beckel can swear all he likes. He’s way over Fox’s tiny collective brains and the GOP Primitive Cult they serve.

Part of the reason that the “did he or didn’t he?” question was raised goes right back to Beckel’s personality, IMO.

At first I agreed he said it but after reading other comments at J$P last night but after listening twice more I am certain he said “this yet”.

Beckel strikes me as someone on the edge and has a history of verbal combativeness. That taken with his recent behavior with the profane gesture a few weeks ago just makes him a likely suspect.

In order for Fox to have an intelligent liberal on, such a thing would have to exist.

I do think, Michelle F, that many moderates, progressives and liberal eschew FOX because they believe to appear on FOX would confer an undeserved legitimacy to FOX. If Ailes and Murdoch were open and honest about their mission to provide a rightist media outlet instead of touting the demonstrably false “fair and balanced” line, I suspect you would find many strong, learned and articulate moderate, progressive and liberal voices clamoring to be on. For the life of me, I can’t understand the reluctance of FOX, Ailes, Murdoch and fans to simply admit the obvious. There is no shame in it. Media outlets in many places have an ideological coloring they freely admit and even take pride in.

For once, Oma, I agree with you. Beckel is overly combative, to the point I don’t enjoy watching or listening to him. I feel much the same about Katrina vanden Heuvel. I think it is unfair to then falsely accuse Beckel, and I’m not saying you are doing so, simply for this reason.

Ask Jeff Zucker… or heck, stay here and ask Colby Hall! Have either of them spoken about the overt and obvious bias in their respective organizations?

Complain about one… complain about all.

Except, INB, you are once again comparing poison ivy to intermittent windshield wipers. FOX proclaims itself “fair and balanced”. FOX shouts it constantly. FOX even establishes its own fan clubs to proclaim it. Therein lies the distinction.

Again, I haven’t the slightest problem that networks or periodicals or newspapers have an ideological slant. You’re barking up the wrong true once again, my little Chihuahua.

And show me where MSNBC says that it’s a left-wing echo chamber… and show me the same for Mediaite.

We’ve been over this before. FNC claims it’s “fair and balanced” because they make sure to air both sides of the story… as in, they’ll give time to those who disagree to state their opinion. MSNBC doesn’t do that… and Mediaite refuses to correct lies and distortions, or admit that the vast majority of their writers are ideologically left.

You complain because you don’t like that FNC has hosts on the right (and they make a convenient scapegoat for all of societal ills), and ignore everyone else because they feed your own ideology. Please don’t claim the moral high road here… you don’t have a leg to stand on.

A bit of hypocrisy from TRRK. Fox is dismissed for bias, but the rest of the media, all run by ardent Democrats, is given a pass. Frankly, I see more diversity of opinion in fifteen minutes of O’Reilly than in a year of Olbermann. So these bias charges are laughable when tossed at Fox by those who won’t acknowledge the fire burning in their own backyard.

  • MichelleF

King, Ok I have to ask, do you think CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, and NBC are biased are down the middle?
