Donna Brazile: I Wish CNN Would’ve Let Me ‘Defend Myself Rather Than Ripping Me a New One’
During a lecture at a women’s college in Virginia last night, interim Democratic National Committee chair Donna Brazile discussed Hillary Clinton’s shocking election loss and how the glass ceiling may have not been broken, but that it was most definitely cracked.
And, oh yeah, she took some shots at CNN, the network she worked at as a political commentator for 14 years before she was fired in the wake of hacked emails released by WikiLeaks claiming she provided CNN’s debate questions to the Clinton campaign.
According to the Roanoke Times, Brazile addressed the situation by hitting back at the network for not allowing her to defend herself.
Brazile did not directly deny the allegations at Hollins, but she fired back at CNN, saying she never got on Clinton’s campaign airplane or prepped the candidate for any of the debates. She also derided WikiLeaks, which leaked the damning emails, by repeatedly calling the organization WikiLies.
“CNN never gave me a question,” she said talking about the debate questions. “I wish CNN had given me some other things, like the ability to defend myself rather than ripping me a new one.”
According to the hacked emails, Brazile forwarded at least two questions to Clinton. One was centered on the Flint water crisis, with a woman suffering from lead poisoning asking the candidates what they would do to help the situation. Another one revolved around the death penalty.
In the aftermath of Clinton’s election loss, some Democrats have called on Brazile to resign from the DNC.
