Fox Anchor Jon Scott Taking Time Off to Climb Mt. Kilimanjaro

Fox News anchor Jon Scott tweeted out something rather surprising this morning:

Climb Kilimanjaro, for a good cause? Why not?! I'm heading out today! See what I’ll be up to here: http://t.co/fcTufA9bRh

That’s right, he’s climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Scott is participating in the Kilimanjaro Challenge. Participants partake in a six-day climb all the way up the mountain, until they reach the summit. Each individual has a fundraising target to hit to help raise money for Clean Water for Children and the Leadership Development Programme.

On his profile page, Scott writes, “I’ve been impressed with Compassion since my kids and I first began sponsoring children through the program a couple of decades ago. The letters from the children we helped support gave my own kids an appreciation for just how fortunate they are to be living in the USA. Yet they also were able to see that poverty doesn’t necessarily equate to misery – and that happiness can exist in places where material wealth does not.”
