Fox Apologizes For Poll Asking If Jews Killed Jesus Christ

Fox Latin America was trying to promote a National Geographic Christmas special on Facebook. So a staffer set up a poll for users to drum up some interest ahead of the program. The problem? The staffer who set up the poll on the Facebook page chose the worst possible question:

Who Do You Think Is Responsible For The Death of Christ?

A. Pontius Pilate
B. Jewish People
C. High Priests

Michael Warren of the Associated Press reports that the Simon Weisenthal Center in Buenos Aires was outraged, calling the question a “defamatory reference.” He added that Fox Latin America spokesperson Guadalupe Lucero apologized on behalf of National Geographic, saying the poll was removed immediately and measures have been taken to prevent such incidents in the future.

There was no word on the results of the poll.

    Why is this controversial?

  • Anonymous

I thought the high priests were also Jews?

  • Anonymous

Pandering to the lowest order of ignorant Xtian trash is a no brainer for FOX, especially in Latin America

  • Anonymous

Seems like the answer should be “D.  All of the above.”

Pretty crazy that history is now controversial.

I guess if the poll said Israelis instead of Jews people would be ok with it as that is the newest way to be anti-semitic and get away with it.

  • Anonymous

Great question to ask a general audience.  Because if there is anyone who would know, it’s people that wouldn’t know.

  • Anonymous

The real pandering is the rewritting of history to change facts that people find offensive.

  • Anonymous

I don’t know why it is bad to say the Jews were involved with the killing
    of Jesus.

It was over 2000 years ago.  Do people really look at today’s Jewish people and blame them?  Do people blame the Italians (Romans)?

From an Atheists point of view- shouldn’t devout Christians thank the Jews and Romans for putting Christ on the Cross?  It seems like without that event everyone would still be Jewish.

  • Anonymous

Jesus was destined to be crucified, so why does it really matter who was responsible? We should be thankful it was carried out and stop looking to blame someone.

  • Anonymous

According to Jesus, the person most responsible for Jesus’ death was Jesus. “Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels?” Matthew 26:53  Everyone else were just tools for the desired outcome.

  • Henry Wood

The reason it is controversial is that Jews are referred to as Christ-killers and antisemites routinely give this excuse as a reason to hate and brutalize jewish people.

  • Cecelia

In other words, it was a National Geographic staffer who wrote the poll question and not Fox News.

  • Anonymous

Well that just means they’re idiots. No living Jew is responsible for anything in that time, assuming, of course, that Jesus was a real person and not an invention in the dark ages.

  • Anonymous

National Geographic only owns a fraction of the channel and the name is used for it’s notoriety and authority.  It provides some content for broadcast.  FOX owns most of the channel and handles, promotions, advertising, sales, etc.

  • Cecelia

National Geographic is owned by NewsCorp as is Fox and Fox News.

  • Just some Blow Hard…

So the rewriting of history by Romans who were now in charge of the church to appear to have a hands off approach to a process that happened in everyone of their territories countless times a day is just as bad?  Remember the Christian bible was first written under a Roman Emperor (Constantine) and heavily influenced by a Roman citizen (though ethnically Jewish) who converted after being a Roman tax collector

  • Just some Blow Hard…

People seem to forget the prophecy called for him to be sacrificed.  That’s why some Christians see Judas as a saint as he fulfilled his need to fulfill the prophecy.

  • Anonymous

    who cares?

  • Just some Blow Hard…

He was a real person as we have Roman records that show the event of crucifixion took place.  Now as for him being the son of God, that’s a different story.  There were a lot of Messiahs back then.

  • Anonymous

Wrong. There is the National Geographic Society, which is it’s own entity and there is FOX, which is owned by NewsCorp.   The National Geographic Channel is 25% owned by NGS, and 75% owned by FOX.  NGS is only responsible for some content.  Again, FOX handles promotions, advertising, sales, etc.  This poll was a product of FOX.  Saying otherwise doesn’t make it so.

  • Just some Blow Hard…

No it is owned by the National Geographic Society who (next to the Roman Catholic Church) is one of the largest non-profit organizations on the planet.  They get a lot of government funding, and not just from ours.

  • Just some Blow Hard…

That could be applied to almost all the stories on here and as a reply to every comment on this board.  It is a valid argument.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=724620873 Walt Murray

Being that as a Christian I believed he died for all of His people through all human history it would be fair to say that I am just as responsible as anyone for His death.  I understand the historical context of the question, but blame lies throughout the human race if it lies anywhere.

  • Anonymous

lol the Guy was God or the son of God or whatever. He could have chose not to be sacrificed and just zapped everyone with lighting lol. Or beat all the romans up. This whole thing never made any sense. How can any one be responsible for a guys death who according to all the christians was super powerful and had magical powers? He had to die or there would be no christianity because then he would not have come back to life! Offfffff course if I was jesus and wanted everyone to believe I would have come back to life right in front of everyone on the cross and floated off, but hey that would make the story more logical, and as we all know religion aint logical.

  • Anonymous

Interesting thought. Speaking of Judas, the film Jesus of Nazareth was on one of those high number channels and along with all the other notable actors (Ernest Borgnine anyone?) there was Judas. It took me a minute, but then I was like “Ian McShane! F$#@! Sweargin is the Apostle Judas!” As far as I know, he didn’t call anyone a c*cksucker. Happy New Year, everyone!

  • Cecelia

By “Fox”, I’m thinking Fox News.  Fox and Fox News are separate entities, i know.  Sorry.

  • Anonymous

This is good news … for Ron Paul!

  • 12voltman1

    Are you that dense?

  • http://www.occupywallst.org/ (CAR)

Then they shouldn’t have killed Jesus.  It’s called, responsibility.

Actually the Romans killed Jesus – technically. But at the request of the Jews who said they would start an uprising war with Ceasar’s Romans if they didn’t crucify him.

So yes, the Jewish people made the Romans kill Jesus because he said he was the messiah.

Why is this news?? Everybody knows this.  So I’d like to know how Jesus dies then.

  • http://www.occupywallst.org/ (CAR)

Everyone else being the Romans and Jews.  That’s right, Jesus gave his life for the sins of others, he was not killed.  But the Jews and Romans did crucify him-that is a fact.

  • http://www.occupywallst.org/ (CAR)

apparently Jews care and are still pissed off about the fact that they killed the Son of the living God.

    Opps

  • Anonymous

Sorry, I’m not religious, I don’t know shit about these myths and stories.

  • Anonymous

Apparently some Christian bigots still care so they can still use blood libel to hate the Jews, I think that is what you meant, bigoted little theotard

  • 12voltman1

    Didn’t mean to be resentful.
But It is like Mel Gibson wrote this poll.

  • Anonymous

Really? Got any historical documents that say the Romans did it at the beshest of the Jews? Or is this just the classic antisemitic trope that Jews control even hostile non Jewish leaders through some sort of Jedi mind control?

  • Anonymous

Funny but blaming the Jews for killing Christ was the main inspiration for antisemitism through the ages, But given your normally weak teaparty grasp of history, I am not surprised you missed that point.

  • Anonymous

    Gotcha

  • Just some Blow Hard…

Ok, I am not sure if this was sarcasm or what but I will give you a
little theology lesson. BTW I am agnostic as that is what 12 years (and a
few semesters) of Catholic school will do to you.

The point of the Gospels was that salvation is not found where you are
looking for it.  At the time Judea was controlled by the Romans and
there were large numbers of Jews who were not very keen on this.  They
also hated that their high priests and kings would work with the Roman
Occupiers.  Actually, watch “The Life of Brian” and it is actually
pretty accurate of the political climate.  So many believed the messiah
would be the one to kick the Romans out and kill their corrupt leaders
thus making them God’s chosen people once again.

The prophecy however did not support this and Jesus often said his
teaching would be a sword that would divide families.  His teaching
focused around the internal than the external.  Love thy neighbors,
forgive thy enemies, and a life of piety and humility will get you
everlasting life, not land, riches, or bloodshed.  The Romans and high
priests actually pointed out your arguments during the crucifixion and mocked him and humiliated him as they tortured him.  Thus the crown of thorns and the sign that read “King of the Jews” on the cross.  His resurrection was proof (if you could call it that) that living like Jesus will grant you everlasting life and a place in the kingdom of heaven.  If looked at as an allegory it is quite beautiful.

Then the Romans took over, bought land and became a new empire and botched the whole thing up.

    Thus endeth the lesson.

  • Anonymous

He’s all powerful son of god but lets a bunch of sword and spear carrying dudes drag him away to be killed.

  • Just some Blow Hard…

you should, too much knowledge is never a bad thing.

  • Anonymous

You assume that these bigots are rational, intelligent people?

  • 12voltman1

They were all jews including Jesus Christ.

  • Pablo

Even from a Christian point of view. Jesus wouldn’t be Jesus without the death and resurrection, which was supposed to be The Plan. The whole “Jesus died for our sins” thing doesn’t really work if Jesus expires of old age or an allergic reaction to shellfish. Also, the poll is missing an “All of the above” option.

  • Anonymous

    I read enough fiction.

  • Anonymous

    Usually bigots aren’t.

  • Pablo

Speaking of Jews, Jesus was one of them.

  • Pablo

Anti-semites are generally whack jobs. The killing and resurrection of Christ was the main inspiration for…wait for it…Christianity!

  • Pablo

That was just the set up. The Resurrection closed the deal.

  • Anonymous

Lol, the whole story is about Jews. Jesus, the apostles, Joseph, Mary, Priests. The Romans and only the Romans killed jesus, along with  a bunch of other jews in that exact same way (crucifixtion) on that exact same days. True, some of the Priests weren’t upset by it,because they felt Jesus was rockin the boat (and I wont get into that) but to blame “the jews” is ignorant and stupid.

  • Cecelia

Jesus’ fate after death was no different from any human’s in the sense that his soul was dispatched somewhere (according to scripture he went to hell).

THAT completion of Jesus’ sacrifice is an important one. Those three days before Jesus’ resurrection are significant.

I have no issue with your being a nonbeliever, but in discussing the topic it is important that you understand that in Christian theology the resurrection was not a circus act, and it is meant as a “sign” to unbelievers only to the extent of it being divine validation of what Christ accomplished.

To believers the true sign of Jesus’ bodily resurrection is that his sacrifice was accepted by God and that humanity now has the promise of bodily resurrection too.

  • Charles Ulysses Feney

    The answer is “C”.

Perhaps FOX could run a poll asking if Jews really use the blood of Goyim innocents to make their Passover Matzos.

    http://www.stsimonoftrent.com/

  • Anonymous

This is very controversial, because throughout history many Jews have been slaughtered by Christians who blamed them for being responsible for the execution of Jesus!  Even today, anti-semitism is often justified by Christains on the grounds that “the Jews killed our Savior”.  The theory is that the Romans did not want to do it, but went along for political reasons to “appease” the high priests in Jeruselem who considered Jesus a threat to the establishment.  What is so insane about all of this is that the scriptures teach us that Jesus went to Jeruselem knowing full well what was in store for him, had multiple opportunities to escape, knew in advance that Judas would betray him,  but was arrested willingly and was voluntarily executed in order that God would accept his sacrifice in atonement for the sins of all mankind.  The poll is ludicrous, because Jesus Christ himself was responisible for His own death.  This entire issue was recently examined at length on the History Channel!

  • http://www.occupywallst.org/ (CAR)

“to blame “the jews” is ignorant and stupid.”???????

What was the reason he was crucified? Do you remember? It was because he broke Jewish law. They are the ones who then crucified him for blasphemy.

    Own it buddy!

  • Booberry Pah

    Bingo.
Where’s “D. All of the above”, or better yet “E. All of Mankind”?

  • Anonymous

Please, if you are an atheist, why make a joke of a subject that upsets so many people at so many different levels?

  • Anonymous

You are right, but the poll is also missing “Jesus Christ Himself”!  He had every opportunity to flee Jeruselem before his arrest.  He could have avoided going to Jeruselem altogether.  There was a Plan and he fulfilled it!

  • Anonymous

Was Julius Caesar real?  Or was he an invention of the dark ages?

  • http://www.occupywallst.org/ (CAR)

Yes, I have one- its called the Holy Bible.

Mat 27:1 When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus [deciding] to put him to death.

According to this scripture: All the Jewish priests and elders of the people are responsible for sentencing Jesus to death.

  • http://www.occupywallst.org/ (CAR)

I believe, as everyone except most Jews believe – that the Jewish people KILLED JESUS.

However, I am a christian; therefore it is not my concern who killed jesus, just that he gave his life for my sins that whosoever believes in him will enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Do I blame Jews for killing Jesus? Yes

Does that mean we should hate Jews? No

  • Anonymous

The theory is that the Romans wanted the support of Jewish leaders to help keep the peace in a Roman occupied territory.

My best friend is Jewish and so are many of my other friends, Jewish, Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, I live in New York!

Before you dismiss the life of Jesus as “myths” and “stories” it might be a good idea to read the scriptures with an open mind and then decide for yourself whether or not the scriptures speak the truth!  Do not reject something you know nothing about!

“From an Atheists point of view- shouldn’t devout Christians thank the Jews and Romans for putting Christ on the Cross?”

No one PUT Jesus on the cross, so much as he allowed himself to be crucified for EVERYONE’S sins. I’m not trying to attack you, as you were asking an honest question, but rather emphasizing that fine detail.

“It was over 2000 years ago.  Do people really look at today’s Jewish people and blame them?”

Well, therein lies the problem. Unfortunately it has become a meme antisemites use to justify their actions. It’s about the context it has taken on today.

  • Anonymous

I think he was honestly wondering.

  • Anonymous

I know you are trying to be funny, but you seem to understand the point!  Jesus was responsible for the death of Jesus.

  • Anonymous

They may be idiots, but it is what it is. It’s the connotation in which that charge is used today. It’s used by racist to attack Jewish people.

  • Anonymous

According to Jesus every last one of us is responsible for him dying for our sins. If you’re a believer, stop trying to position yourself as somehow better than the Jewish, take your own advice, and reflect on your own sins that put him up on that cross.

  • Anonymous

Will we all be invited to your ordination?

Seriously, your comment is very accurate!  I mean that as a compliment.  You only left out the fact that Jeus was responsible for His own death in view of the fact that he could have escaped or avoided going to Jeruselem altogether!

Rewriting of what history?!? The history in The Bible? The Bible which makes it clear that Jesus sacrificed himself for everyone’s sins?

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_WWGNSUW64Y3JP3VGHIMT6OU2OU luckyirishgoddess

No Fox.  Jews didn’t kill Jesus.  He was killed by a totalitarian conservative Roman government.

  • Anonymous

I don’t hate Jews but their priests were indeed partially responsible for Jesus’ death at the hands of the Romans.
So were those who called for Barabbas to live rather than Jesus.
That’s no reason to hate Jews overall any more than giving monetary compensation to negroes whose ancestors were slaves is.
(I know that’s a stretch analogy…. but if you think about it….it does make sense)
Anyone who argues with that is either ignorant of history or a liar.

  • Anonymous

What do you mean “own it?” It only happened because of everyone’s sins, so where do you get off telling him to own it?

  • Anonymous

Why should I trust something written from about 1600-2000 years ago over the scientific knowledge we have today?

  • Anonymous

Religion can be logical. Unfortunately, there are a lot of illogical people who identify as religious. I take it you aren’t a Christian, but even you realize how illogical it is, from a Christian standpoint, to blame any one group for the death of someone who was sacrificed for the world’s sins. If you can understand this, people claiming Christianity can as well. I honestly just think it’s a matter of people dumbing down to try and justify their prejudices. Shocking, right? There’s nothing new there.

  • Anonymous

If you’re going to comment, at least become informed on the matter. He let them carry him away for a reason. You can choose to believe whatever you want religion wise, but it clearly states that he died for everyone’s sins. It’s not like the Bible just depicts him being drug away kicking, screaming, and powerless.

  • Anonymous

fine, ok, but do you realize that accusing the Jews of killing Jesus was the root of antisemitism? Besides, there is no historical proof that it was the Jew’s fault, none. No court or prelate or other real historical records to refer to, just the Gospels. Besides, Jesus died for our sins makes no sense. He was dying so we could be spared the wrath of his/father’s condemnation. All they had to do was stop condemning people for sins. What a load of tripe. He is forgiving us for his/dad’s bad temper.

  • Anonymous

That’s fine, but when you post in the comments section inquiring about the subject, you should probably satisfy your own interest by learning a bit more about it, instead of continuing to ask questions while espousing a lack of desire to learn more. It’s kind of inconsiderate to ask a question, have people respond, then declare a lack of interest in the subject.

There is no “scientific knowledge” which indicates that Jesus did not exist.  No scientists claim that He did not exist.  Some question whether the New Testament is 100% accurate and some question whether we are interpreting teachings of Jesus correctly.  The fact that there are so many Christian Denominations proves that there are even disputes among the believers.  Read the Bible!  Study all the science in the world. The knowledge you will obtain from both will prove to you that they are not mutually exclusive!

P.S. Many scientists go to church!

  • Anonymous

It’s not only a stretch but a completely bogus analogy. Completely expected from you though. Saying Jewish people killed Christ has taken on a different context because of the way antisemites have used it as a means to carry out their hatred. You probably see that as being “PC.” Instead of focusing on The Jewish, blacks, et al take the time to reflect, as Christians, on our own sins and hatred that put Christ up on the cross.

  • Anonymous

Then why did Jesus not run away the night before?  He knew Judas would betray Him, that He would be arrested and executed.  Jesus was and is responsible for the death of Jesus.

We are all responsible for Jesus’ death.  He died for all sinners, and we are all sinners.

  • Anonymous

As I understand it, Jesus did not hang himself.  He allowed the Romans to do it.  The Romans were told to do it by Pilate who was pressured into giving the order by the Jewish priests.

And that allowed part only really covers the “Christ is God” believers not the “Christ was a man who taught people some good things”.

As a non-believer you can still believe in Jesus as a person.

I sort of think of Jesus in the same way I do Hiawatha – and I say that respectfully.  Both were men who did great things and deserve to be remembered.

  • Anonymous

Not very funny!  Many Christians were put to death for beliveing that your “dog and pony show” was real and that it happened exactly the way the New Testament says that it did.  If you do not want to read the Bible, watch three movies, “The Robe” and “Quo Vadis” and “Ben Hur!”

    well that would take logic….
ie jesus is god and knew he would die –therefore chose to die? chose to be deceived and even prophesied it by choosing Judas to be the martyr?

Much of the Wests history that pre-dates the Dark Ages has been influenced by the Roman’s and/or the Church.  They were one of the few that survived in one shape or another AND kept good histories.  They may have purged the real history they did not like, but it is really hard to prove what is the real history.  The winners usually get to choose the history that gets passed on.

That does not invalidate the history.  Especially if it is all you really have.

I tend not to like revisionists though- I look at them as historians trying to publish books- and who is going to keep publishing the same story over-and-over again?  So revisionist historians write stuff certain people want to here and get noticed.  Not all for sure, but enough to make them subject to suspicion.

  • Anonymous

Okay, I understand that is your viewpoint, but the point is that antisemites have accused Jewish people of killing God. That means they believe that Christ was God, which holds them to a different standard than it would be reasonable to hold you to as someone who just believes in him as a man. If they think Jesus is God they are Christians. If that is the case they should recognize that Jesus died for everyone’s sin, instead of looking to blame Jewish people as an excuse for their hatred.

  • Anonymous

No it doesn’t. I don’t consider suicide and sacrifice the same things. I just don’t understand, and correct me if my thinking is flawed, how a Christian believer could try to lay blame on Jewish people. If anything that would be a position for a Non-Christian to take, as they wouldn’t believe he was God nor, by extension, died for everyone’s sins.

  • Anonymous

If you would bother reading the New Testament, you would learn that all four of the Gospels tell the same account of the Death of Jesus, they are consistent and complement each other.  There are no conflicts in the Gospels as to what happened, and St, Paul later ratified what happened in the numerous letters he wrote after his conversion. The skeptics and non-believers do not accept the Resurrection, but they do not blame that on inconsistent statements in the Bible.  They do not believe it because they want objective proof and because they have no faith!

  • Anonymous

I think you mean Pat Robertson who appears on th 700 Club.

  • Anonymous

By whose definition Joe? How do you apply that word to those times? I consider both of those incidents a sacrifice. Would you tell a mother whose son hurled himself atop a grenade in Iraq that her child committed suicide? You are aware that if a service member commits suicide their beneficiaries are not entitled to collect their life insurance, right? Yet, when soldiers die that way, they do. Reconcile that, Joe.

I’m not here to tell you I have all of the answers. I think that’s where a lot of religious people go wrong. How much faith would you have if you were afforded all of the answers? I’m not the type of person to say “so and so is going to hell.” I don’t presume to know God’s plan for that person. The way I see it, if Jesus can forgive a lifelong criminal on his deathbed, I can’t say what is happening to whom, at any point in time, in this life, or the next.

It seems you already have your mind quite firmly made up, so I have to ask what is your point here, other than to antagonize someone who is not antagonizing you?

No, if it happened, it was just UNDER 2,000 years ago.  The upcoming years 2030 CE, 2031 CE, 2032 CE and 2033 CE will be interesting.  Christ-believers will  be running around saying the end is near depending on what calendar they believe was accurate.  Then January 1, 2034 will dawn, and NO JESUS!  Then MAYBE they’ll slink away and leave the rest of us alone.

The article in question does hinge on if someone is a believer or not, but even if taken as a myth, the question does not hold water.

That said, this argument is now boiling down to a believer vs non-believer one and in that we miss the underlying meaning of these tales.  There are those who believe the Trojan war was real and there are others who believe it was all made up by Homer.  That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t read or study the Iliad or Odyssey. History (hell even current events) is clouded by bullshit but so is reality.  It is why we should ask questions.

The skeptic and the faithful are really looking for the same thing, redemption.

Atheists tend to be a lot more knowledgeable about the Bible and the religion in general than Christians. Most Christians never really read it and if they do, they never learn any of the history behind it and its compilation. They are just content with having select parts of it preached to them. Most atheists grew up as Christians and consciously rejected it. Reading all of the Bible is actually a great way to learn how absurd and incoherent the whole thing is.

  • Anonymous

The whole thing is nonsensical because it’s god taking on human form to sacrifice himself to himself to appease himself for something he caused in the first place.

The whole thing is nothing but an immoral, barbaric human version of scapegoating. The primitive tribal tradition of heaping the tribe’s sins on an animal and driving it into the desert to die. Even if he existed, any god whose only solution to this self-created problem is something so superfluous is not worth worshiping.

No. You surely do not believe that anybody has proven that God does not exist?  You will respond by asking for proof that He does exist. I will say look at the world around you and at all forms of life.  You will say so what?   That means that you do not know for sure!

There is plenty of evidence.  You just do not believe that there is enough evidence to constitute proof beyond a reasonable doubt!  That is why we call it religious “faith.” When the Apostle Thomas expressed doubts to Jesus that he had been resurrected, Jesus invited him to feel the wounds on his body (You have heard the term “Doubting Thomas”).  When proof had been presented to Thomas he believed.  Jesus said: “Thomas you have seen proof and now you believe.  Blessed are they who never see proof and who yet believe.”

What gets me is that for close to pretty much all of the last two millennia, Christians have hated Jews because the Jews killed Jesus.  Suppose it were true.  Wasn’t that what was supposed to happen?  How could Jesus have “died for your sins” if he had not actually died?  How would Christianity work as a religion if he had died an old man, in bed, surrounded by James’s family?  Or died of cholera on the road somewhere?  Personally, I was raised Jewish but consider myself an atheist, but if anyone ever blames me or “my people” for killing Christ, I will say calmly, “And that’s what started your religion, isn’t it?  You’re welcome.”

Atheists hold that god does not exist.  Whether or not god’s existence has been proven is irrelevant to the definition.

When one introduces the idea of proof he/she goes  outside the realm of belief.  According to the buy-bull, god is to be believed in without proof.

Most Atheists don’t believe because s/he (god) can’t be proven.  Most believers ignore the need for proof (as they are charged to do). Some, in an attempt to sound intelligent, introduce the argument that one can’t prove god doesn’t exist.  This is illogical and bad debate form. A negative cannot be proven.  For example, it would be impossible for one to prove that unicorns don’t exist.  Just because one couldn’t produce one doesn’t mean there isn’t one – but neither does it mean that there is one – - nothing proven either way.  However, to prove a unicorn DOES exist, one would have to give an example of one (that others could verify).

Atheists do exist.  One is sitting right here for your verification.  Bring your friends.

Theists do exist.  Bring your friends to my mom’s house for verification.

Agnostics exist. They simply profess to not having decided, for themselves, one way or the other on god’s existence.

Your argument actually isn’t one.  Most likely, it has been fed to you by one (or more) who is attempting to sound intelligent and rational.  Neither are true.

Jesus the man was killed by the court and the public of the day. Fighting against a re-pressing religion and a government. Blame Romans and Jews to be correct.

As to this ‘Plan’ being referenced to above…the story of the Son of God incarnate came into the picture later…glorifying the story of this rebel against the injustice of his day. Against the freedom takers in religion and government of his time.

What’s changed ? We got millions of Jesus on the front lines in our armies and on our streets today. Fighting for the same rights and freedoms.

Jews are a small fraction of all the religions who claim to be number 1 and the majority now. We got hundreds of governments who control who’s rich and poor now.

So the real question should be who is killing Jesus TODAY!

Many do use the death of Jesus as way to promote antisemitism. It is a way to get people all riled up and angry. Gives them someone to focus their anger on. The Jewish people did NOT request nor Make the Romans kill Jesus. Pontius Pilate was the Roman governor of Judaea. Because Jesus was promoting/teaching the Jewish religion the way he saw it. Possibly radically different from the way the Rabbis were teaching. And probably very charismatically to the point that it got noticed. Most governments get nervous when crowds get together in a united way.   Pilot asked the Jews if Jesus was their Massiah or Leader. Knowing full well that the Jewish people would say he was not. He told them if they said Jesus was their messiah Jesus would be spared. They said he was not The Massiah nor their representative. So, Pilot had Jesus crucified. A common method of killing by the Romans. Jesus was not the only person crucified. Probably several people were crucified that day. This eliminated multiple problems for the Romans. No more crowds gathering and uniting, no longer a charismatic person to be concerned about, and a way to scare the Jewish populace (and other peoples there) about being noticed or standing out, or making a fuss. Misinformation/ignorance does not excuse bigotry.

First of all do not recommend someone get factual information from watching movies instead of reading. That is ludicrous. And the bible is not the only “source book” to read. Besides you did not mention which version of the bible. There are many. And all written to whomever was in power at the times perspective/slant.  To get factual information one should check numerous sources. Acknowledging and checking who wrote/paid for the sources to be written. Secondly why is it “not very funny” that Christians died for their beliefs; but no concern about Jewish people dying for theirs. Not believing that Jesus was the first coming of the Massiah is just as legitimate a belief as any.

  • Anonymous

The whole point of is that it is a story. A story that is so silly it is beyond words. This story would not be fit to print and could not sell any copies in a book store if written today because it makes no sense. God who is all powerful comes down to earth in mortal form because he wants to conduct an experiment. He doesn’t talk to anyone directly because apparently although this could be effective is not amusing to him. So he impregnates a lady, then decides to take up carpentry and waits till he’s 30 to decide he wants to do anything. After that he starts messing with the powers that be and causes all kinds of drama. He performs some cool ass miracles, saves some people lets others die, makes some wine out of water and feeds some people. These people think he’s the shit and start to follow him around.  Then he pisses the Romans off so bad they decide enough of this fool and lets put him on a cross. He knows who is going to betray him and says screw it im gonna go die and then come back to life anyway to prove these fools wrong. Now he could have avoided all this and performed some cool ass magic tricks like turning the roman soldiers into frogs, but he didn’t want to go this rout. He wanted to suffer and get nailed to a cross and make everyone feel guilty. But he gets pounded up on this wood stabbed, whipped and get a thorny crown for good measure. Now if I was God and wanted to convert people I would have been like go for it dude you cant to crap to me. Floated off the cross and performed some kickass judo on all those evil romans. Then went over to Marys house and gave her a big kiss, all the while running through Jerusalm and screaming ” You cant touch this”. Now that would have converted a shitload of people. But see god likes to mess with his subjects so his son dies. Then after he’s buried sneaks back out three days later and wanders around for a little bit. Doesn’t go over to the Romans or the Jews who didn’t believe but goes right back to his boys who already thought he was the shit. God then says hmmmm im gonna have these guys preach for me the next 2000 years and see what goes down. Even thought im all powerful and know whats gonna go down it should be fun to watch! Boy I cant wait till my christians start to kill those Jews who believe in me to but were to dumb to take what i gave em. And man the crusades are gonna be a hoot. My christian boys are gonna go down and kick some muslim ass for 300 years! But i wont let em win cause it will be cool to see how it messes with em. What a freaking joke.

Jesus was Jewish- he was a Rabbi who taught the word of G-D.  He had many followers and the Romans became nervous of his control/influence over his followers. Before Jesus, the religious majority were Jewish. No group of people betrayed Jesus. And even in the 21st Century this misrepresentation of the truth is still perpertrated even in the US and used to scapegoat and speak of Jewish people in an Anti-Sematic manner.  There would be no Christianity without Judaism. A truly religious person who believed in G-D would also believe that we are all free to practice and believe in whatever manner comforts us and not look down on others for how they believe. The Jews did not kill Jesus. And he was not the only person put to death that day. The Romans were crucifying anyone they felt threatened their power. And that is the historical truth.

Slavery was not a punishment for something African people did, sweetheart.

It was a bad thing done to African people for several centuries, but they certainly weren’t the first victims of this evil practice. In fact, slaves still exist today in the Middle East any many parts of Africa, Asia and South America.

And let’s not pretend that all races haven’t engaged in this horrific practice over the course of history. Africans made slaves of other Africans, too, you know.Sorry to be so patronizing, but it’s the only way I can keep myself from being completely rude.

  • Pablo

Why would that be? Does the name Barabbas ring a bell?

The powers that were turned the populace, which could certainly be referred to as “The Jewish people” against Christ (also a Jew) which was one of the factors that led to His crucifixion. This, as I mentioned, was preordained, it’s what was supposed to happen. Without it, there would be no Christianity at all.

That isn’t a smear, that’s what the historical record reflects. It also isn’t an extrapolation against all of anyone, as you’ve chosen to assume. In fact, you stated it yourself:

First of all, Jesus was King of the Jews. When somebody is killed in
their own country or within their own region by their own people, it’s
    not particularly surprising.

And yet you chose to infer something that wasn’t there, that Jews as a whole or that Jews for all time should be blamed for killing Christ. You said it, not me. I don’t see anything to blame at all.

There were 2 million white slaves taken by Nth Africans. Was that a punishment?

He did not HAVE to die. As much as you Jews pray to God, imagine if God gave you the gift of his physical presence, actually performing miracles and proving he is God right in front of your very eyes. Healing people and changing the entire world directly. What a wonderful blessing that you have squandered just because you believe he ‘had to die’.

You are a stuff-necked people because even in the evidence of the proof of God and the word of God, an hour later you are in disbelief again.

The root of antisemitism (man that word is hard to type and you Jews use it soo often. can’t you come up with a shorter eaiser word like -JewHatism??)

Anyway, Antisemitism is hate. There are many different kinds of hate including racism, discrimination, and bigotry. If you ever ever think people hate you for an actual valid reason, well then I just hope you are a really bad person. Usually, people hate you because they hate themselves. And its easier to express that hate towards other people then to take responsibility for your own emotions.

This is why hate exist. Unless your just an a-hole then people probably hate you because if that.

  • http://www.occupywallst.org/ (CAR)

Own it. Jews Killed Jesus. Then he said no man will know God but through himself. So this puts Jews is a terrible position of either not believing Jesus exist, thus damning themselves forever; or believing in him and becoming Jews for Jesus, which some do actually, congratulations.

So yes, Own it. Hey I own that the Christians did the crusades and killed people for not being christian. I own it that some muslims, who believe in the same God I do, go to the extreme and also kill people who don’t have or live their same traditions and rituals.

I own it. I own the fact that America is supposed to be a Christian nation, but we rob from our poor, give to our rich, think its a crime to help anyone, and base our worth on money-nevermind the fact that we kill our babies and the death penalty and killing people at war are not only allowed, but are encourages. And that’s as far from christian as you can be.

I own it. So own who you are, and move on with your life. Denying reality just makes more people call you crazy.

Jews killed their own Messiah. How can I be better then Jewish when we both base our faith on God? Isn’t it basically the same thing? Yes it is.
