GOP Rep. Michael Burgess Calls For Impeaching President Obama

Republican Congressman Michael Burgess agrees with some of his Tea Party constituents that now is the time to impeach President Obama, since that’s the best way to stop Obama from “pushing his agenda.” In an interview with his hometown newspaper the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Burgess insisted the House needs to stop the President, otherwise “the longer we allow the damage to continue unchecked, the worse things are going to be for us.”

Although when away from his enthused Tea Party town hall crowd, it seems unclear how serious Burgess is about pursuing impeachment. The Hill reports that Burgess later admitted knowing impeachment “would not be successful,” but is still eager to do something to stall the administration’s agenda. Yet with just a little over one year left before the 2012 election, might Burgess just focus his efforts on removing Obama from office the good old-fashined way: helping the Republican presidential nominee defeat him?

Did this deep thinker come up with a reason for impeachment?  Or is he just winging it?

    For what?

“Or is he just winging it?”

    He’s wing-nutting it.

They want to impeach him for winning. Sore losers all around.

(PS – the Dems were not a lot better last administration.)

Earlier today he stated that the downgrade was not POTUS’s fault.  The GOP got their followers fooled.  It is so funny and weird.  Hobbits. I did not say it. Just repeating McCain. Stand by Tea Party folks. Palin family will have a Playboy article next wk regarding drugs etc.  lol

HAHA  Your definition of winning must be similar to Charlie Sheen’s.  Even your own party recognizes Barry as a fraud.

  • Anonymous

Winning as in winning the 2008 election. Remember that?

Oh, and yet again, No Party Affiliation. Not my party.

  • Anonymous

Not with that list. You could pull a list like that for every president since Washington. That reads like a list of why not to re-elect Obama, with the last one being the one that counts.

  • Anonymous

Is that a joke or is there really going to be a Playboy article?

For the HIGH CRIMES of Obama carrying his agenda. I thought when previous Presidents got elected….they carried out their agenda. Tea Baggers interpretation of the Constitution.

God I hope theses crazy bastards do try to impeach! It will give Obama a 20 point jump in the polls and insure his reelection by historical proportions.   But Teabagger freaks have no sense of reality.

  • Brian Cox

Burgess, like all Republicans, is an idiot.

  • Anonymous

See, here is an example of the real problem. Burgess may indeed be an idiot, but not all Republicans are idiots. This is exactly the same language Republicans use to describe all Democrats. It has become more about the hate and anger than actual governance.

For the record, I am neither. Proudly No Party Affiliation for over 20 years.

The crazy teabaggers need to be rounded up before they make this country worse.  Here I thought they were against welfare for the wealthy, but I guess that was just a sound bite because they were against cutting off loopholes in the tax system.

The House of Representatives controls the money. The House of Representatives is currently led by a Republican majority.

rounded up? You sound like a Nazi

  • Anonymous

They’re the ones that are causing the crisis controlled by their henchmen.   But luckily their power is soon diminishing as Americans learned who they really are.

  • insideguy

Political bs as usual. Every administration there are wingnuts calling for an impeachment of whatever president there is. I say go for it. You guys blew your wad when you impeached Clinton. It wasted time and money was useless and made you look like fools. Clinton will probably go down as one of the better presidents in history. Of course you righties wont admit that but you never admit anything that a democrat did was good.

The best way to stop Obama and the Progressives is to gridlock Congress. For the most part, mission accomplished. I hope they keep it up through 2012.

  • Anonymous

GOTP already even less popular than they were during the Clinton impeachment.  Going after Obama would simply kill the party for sure.  Go for it!

  • Anonymous

I would tell Mr. Burgess not to waste his time.

The American people will excise the cancer known as Obama next November.

    Permanently.

  • Anonymous

Sure, they can keep screwing the country over until the next election. The right has done nothing but gridlock since January 20, 2009 so the blame for a lot of the countries Ill’s can be laid squarely at the feet of the GOP. I hope they do keep it up. It will be good for the Democrats and the President! The GOP is not doing what they were elected to do- they aren’t earning their salary!

  • Anonymous

You see? Congress is not really on vacation. (Not 100%). They are checking with their constituents and unofficially campaigning for their own re-election. That is the only reason for Burgess to make a statement that his political base wants to hear, but he has no intention of following through on.

If somebody challenges him on this later, he will simply say he was thinking about it at that time. It was not a promise to do something.

    HAHAHAHAHAHA!

In my observation, it is clear that ALL republicans are not mouth-breathing, ignorant idiots. But I will tell you this. Every single narrow-minded, uneducated, hateful racist asshole in America is eventually drawn to the republican party, just as surely as flies are drawn to cow shit.

  • Anonymous

It’s about time someone called ( out loud ) for the terrorist in our White House to answer for his crimes against the Republic.

  • Glenn Bovine

    Again?

This is exactly the mindset of the tea bagged.

They threw their sht fit since the 2008 election. They have been “impeaching” President Obama from day one.

Then another gNOpig comes jerking off again with “impeachment” and the tea baggeds get their panties all wet.

    Freaking ridiculous gNOpigs.

  • Anonymous

And the jobs will stay gridlocked too. Way to support America.

  • http://www.IndiaCurry.com Yogi Gupta

I am a conservative. However, congressman Michael Burgess is an idiot. Mr Burgess, you are elected to do a job, go do your job. We need common sense conservatives to solve our fiscal problems, not to make stupid statements.

  • Anonymous

And the American people are beginning to despise the GOTP for it.  Their approval rating is now lower than it was when they impeached  Bill Clinton.  Americans are funny about party before country.

  • Sid G.

As a former Republican, I am horrified at today’s gang of midgets and hobbits that make up the GOP. This nitwit seems to be one step away from appearing at his next town hall wearing a bed sheet and pointy hat.

  • caconservative

This looks like a case of pointing fingers to cover up the GOP’s own complicity in the gross negligence of Congress. The Democrats will pay for their complicity in 2012. The GOP had better start listening to us because their idea of compromise is laughable. Major amounts of dirt needed to be moved to save this economy and all the GOP could come up with is raking the yard! Congress needs to be gutted!!

  • adler56

Ugly fatass losers like him don’t think.

Let us bring back both BushDrunks & The Gang.

  • adler56

You racists need to be “rounded up” and deported as un-americans or tried for treason and shot.

  • charlie Mcadams

a nd let this be definitive, Who the Hell is Michael Burgess and who cares?

  • Jadd

Based on exactly what charges? Has this twit read the Constitution, or is this more Republican bovine scatology?

  • http://twitter.com/cek100248 charles kirtley

Like him lor not, the president will not be impeached. Burgess should spend his time working on projects that may result in something.

  • Anonymous

Actually there is a good case for Obama to be impeached. He ignores the Constitution all the time and is failing to carry out the duties of his oath of office by doing so. He thinks the president can do as he pleases and obfuscate the law of the land. Czars he appoints to usurp the power and functions of the cabinet, immigration law/amnesty reforms by personal decree, to name a few. He thinks he has the power to deny the states the rights of self determination when it comes to illegal immigrants, and he has demonstrated his penchant for ignoring congress in the case of the war powers act and Libya.  There’s a lot more, but those three items are a good start.

  • Anonymous

Impeach him for winning? If the corrupt manner in which he was elected is anything that the Senate will address – like the nationwide campaign of voter fraud carried out by ACORN for instance – he didn’t win, he cheated his way into the oval office.

  • Anonymous

Oops, you looked into the mirror again while blogging, didn’t you?

  • Anonymous

Adler, are you promoting violence again and still using baseless racism charges?  When are you gonna get a job and do something productive?

  • adler56

Your comment makes no sense unless you’re a  PeeWee Herman wannbe

That comment is as stupid as your nic.

    You’re entirely psychotic, aren’t you?

It’s cute, but remember not to reproduce.

  • Anonymous

You are entirely unqualified to make that assessment, aren’t you?
You are also a very transparent individual who thinks that Obama has a chance to be re-elected, aren’t you? Your snarky comments and smarmy attitude oozes out of your posts – yes I checked your profile – and hopefully you are never going to be able to attract a mate long enough to reproduce.

My “kids” are over 30 – probably older and undoubtedly more intelligent than you.
