Is Obama Turning Golf Into A Four-Letter Word?

obama-golf_1214027cPresident Obama’s penchant for golf has made headlines before (though for very different reasons) so I guess it was just a matter of time before it became suspect in light of how long Obama took to address the nation after the Christmas Day terror attack. Golf might just be this White House’s version of clearing brush. This from Michelle Cotter at TNR.com:

With the coming new year, however, POTUS has a prime opportunity to regroup, reload, and revamp his image. He could start by ditching golf.

Seriously. Its venerable White House history notwithstanding, golf is a dubious pastime for any decent, sane person, much less for this particular president. Why would a leader vowing to shake up Washington–to alter the very nature of politics–sell his soul to a leisure activity that screams stodgy, hyperconventional Old Guard?

Also, apparently Obama is not the first president to be criticized for an obsession with the “elite” sport: Eisenhower was “mocked” by none other than man of the people J.F.K. for his penchant for golf (Kennedy was a closet player).

…and I’m sure you can find YouTubes of Chevy Chase as Gerry Ford, whacking folks with balls.

(I really don’t understand this obsession with the fact that it took the President three days to say – bad man arrested, agencies taking appropriate action, but I guess some folks just needed a hug. As for myself, I wasn’t on a flight from Holland, I was no where near Detroit and my Christmas was just fine)

How about the unfortunately timed cover of this month’s GOLF DIGEST:

“Ten Tips Obama Can Take From Tiger”?

The President is even pictured crouched in front of the shamed golf pro. Priceless.

@MartiniShark: Yeah, as an industry, golf has had a bad couple of months.

Um, the President also plays basketball but, seriously the clearing brush comparison? Stop comparing this president to that fake ass, Texas clown who needed his father’s help to even get into Yale. I’m sure they’re not pleased that this idiot “graduated” from their but, like Palin still can’t pronounce the word Nuclear. It’s just like it’s spelled by the way Nu Clear….Nuclear not Nukeular!

The word “nuclear” is one of the most mispronounced words in the English language. George W. Bush said “nu-q-ler,” but so did Jimmy Carter. So it’s a wash, right? Nope – Carter was a Lieutenant on a nuclear submarine and STILL couldn’t pronounce it right!

It’s hilarious how every word out of place out of Palin’s mouth is used as evidence she’s a moron, but every gaffe by Obama is just evidence that he’s a mortal human after all.

Yes, stop comparing the two. Please, roxy… stop.

Yea, Obama is a brilliant, deep thinker who went to Harvard and learned about the 58 united States when he graduated from their.
