HBO’s Lena Dunham Sends Out Sexualized Pic Of Obama: ‘You Could Bounce A Quarter Off That Butt’
HBO’s Girls creator Lena Dunham took a lot of flak for her recent eyebrow-raising Barack Obama endorsement video, but the 26-year-old may have outdone herself Monday by Instagraming a picture of the president playing basketball with the caption: “I know I’ve been criticized for sexualizing our POTUS but you could bounce a quarter off that butt … #Obama2012”
The snapshot comes a little more than a week after the release of her sexually charged pro-Obama video, which features the young director talking about voting for the first time as if she were talking about having sex for the first time:
“Your first time shouldn’t be with just anybody. You want to do it with a great guy. It should be with a guy who’s beautiful, someone who really cares about and understands women, whether you get health insurance and specifically whether you get birth control. The consequences are huge. You want to do it with the guy who brought the troops out of Iraq. You don’t want a guy who says, ‘Oh hey, I’m out studying’ when really he’s out not signing the Lilly Ledbetter Act or who thinks that gay people should never have beautiful, complicated weddings of the kind we see on Bravo or TLC all the time.”
Some expressed appreciation for and defended Dunham’s approach but critics voiced loud and ample disapproval with the video. The YouTube clip, which has more than 2 million views, has more than 14,000 likes and more than 18,000 dislikes.
