How Does Rick Perry Relax? By Shooting Off Sniper Rifles. ‘It’s My Golf’

video

Some people go to the beach on their days off, while others unwind in their hot tubs. Rick Perry would like you to know he takes it easy by busting caps. The Texas Governor uploaded a home movie to his campaign’s official YouTube feed entitled “What To Do On A Day Off” featuring the Republican candidate celebrating his Second Amendment rights by blasting off sniper rifle shells.

“I don’t play golf. This is my golf,” Perry said referring to his marksmanship in what some are calling an implicit jab at President Obama.

Perry said the LaRues, who hosted the governor at their gun facility, were “great Americans, a couple of great patriots,” making “the finest weapons in the world.”

“I’m still trying to get a hole in one,” Perry chuckles as he fires off a round. “For me, it’s really relaxing, frankly, just getting to come hang out with what I consider to be patriots, the men and women that work here.”

Perry added that when he wasn’t firing off his sniper rifles, “his form of golf,” you could find him out running, or hanging out with his dogs.

The personal video which showcases Perry’s sharpshooting hobbies appears to be making an attempt to humanize the Texas Governor in the eyes of many gun-toting Republican primary voters.

It’s what I do to relax.

Looks like he’s in a range…less likely to shoot a friend in the face. Well played, Mr. Perry.

Not surprising that Rick Perry is the #1 choice of Conservatives/Republicans/Tea Baggers. The dumber the candidate the better it is for these voters. They all want to have a beer with him now.

Seriously, what kind of dumb redneck do you have to be to see this video and think “Wow, this multi-millionaire governor of a large American state is just like me!”

Who falls for this calculated pandering BS anymore?  Does anyone still believe anything that politicians do in public is real as opposed to a calculated move to shore up some demo or interest group?

I can’t wait to see Perry’s video when his numbers start to slip and he decides he now needs to appeal to the Log Cabin Republican demo: “Hey guys, I just love sucking c-ck to relax!  Seriously, it’s like my golf!:

It makes the weak righties feel powerful.

I am liberal on most issues and I believe that shooting a weapon at a range to relax is a non-issue and a non-story. I shot at the police station every monday growing up – so what.  It literally has nothing to do with anything…

  • Just some Blow Hard…

Welcome to politics.  Its been played this way since the Greeks.

  • Just some Blow Hard…

I believe in the right for every American to own guns and what not…

    But…

When ever I see a man clinging to a gun like a first born child or feels the need to show everyone that he has a gun and knows how to use it, I think about mean with huge sports cars, or trucks, or boats, or trophy wives.  Then I think they are really trying to compensate for other areas that they feel inadequate.

    “Look at my big…”

Well, guess I’ll be the first.  I bought a LaRue Tactical 18″ stealth upper (for AR15) last year and purchased other parts necessary to build the rifle.  That was my xmas present.  I’d never owned a rifle, hadn’t even shot one except once as a 10yr old or so when my grandfather let me shoot his .22 rifle at some soda cans on some mountain property an uncle had bought.  I had no idea if I’d enjoy shooting it but I wanted a rifle or shotgun and knew I wouldn’t enjoy the expense of shooting clay targets flying through the air (I’m cheap).  So, I spent over  $1800 on this thing.  I’ve taken it to the range twice, and although I’ve owned and shot a pistol at paper range targets since about 1990 I’ve learned shooting at a target 100yds away with a rifle capable of 1000yds is something I have absolutely no talent for.  I need more practice with it, but the two times I’ve been I couldn’t tell if I’d even hit the target at all, let alone near where I was aiming.  It was embarrassing since I had a (cheap) scope on it, yet the guy next next to me was firing a WWII rifle with no scope and hitting near the bulls eye with each shot.  My starter supply of about $90 in ammo is gone, so I haven’t been back since – but look forward to someday…

LaRue Tactical is the real deal – there’s another custom company that has even better barrels (for a lot more money), but my $1200 barrel is good enough for special forces, and its plenty good enough for me.

    HOLE IN ONE !!!

Mostly high visibility targets. They’re really necessary when shooting at 100-500 yards.

Actually venison is cheaper than meat from the grocery store right now. Believe it or not some people who grew up in a rural areas (or with hunting being a part of life) see guns as a source of food at a more affordable price. And you get a self-respect for the fact that you earned it. Much like growing your own tomatoes. Kids today have no idea where there food comes from… be it vegetables or meat. More people should understand the food cycle and how their food gets on the table.

But I will leave you to make more sarky comments now. I guess they make you fell better about yourself. Do you really feel you’re better than other people due to your beliefs?

are you Really for Ron Paul?

He’s just trying to broaden the appeal to stalwart Tea Party/Republicans, by staying down to earth.

It’s nice to know the recoil action of a sub machine helps to soothe and unwind those daily tensions that build up on the Campaign Trail.

I like than line in Cool Hand Luke where the guy asks, “Does he ever talk?” referring to the Walking Boss.  Then the Walking Boss shoots a hawk out of the sky and Luke observers, “I think he just said something.”

What exactly happened to him at the end of that classic movie with Paul ‘Blue Eyes’ Newman.

‘…What we have here is a failure to communicate!’

He looks much more comfortable with a firearm than Sarah Palin.

Watch this drive RIck Parry’s poll numbers among Republicans.  Now Romney will claim that he bombs abortion clinics in his spare time to counter Parry’s kookiness.

damnnnnn….thats a smack….i couldnt agree more…….these wingnuts think that gated community living assholes like perry, beck, hannity and limbaugh relate to their trailer park living brokes asses….only thing missing form the perry vid was the watermellon targets he was shooting at….

  • Anonymous

    yep

It didn’t help the top liberal choice Dukakis to ride in a tank.  Either you are an outdoorsman or you aren’t.  Romney is arguably the best administrator in the field, but he isn’t running for chief of staff.  Its too early to tell who’ll be the nominee, but as much fun as it is for liberals to try to choose who’d hot and who’s not the choice will be with the Republican primary voters.

  • Dngrwill

As opposed to the liberals favorite candidate and uber-genius Barack Obama …. lmao

  • Glutton

If the Republicans nominate Romney, then he will flip flop and give in to whatever the Democrats say.  If the Republicans nominate Parry, then Obama gets re-elected.  Either way, the liberals win.

  • Glutton

     LOL

  • Glutton

I thought Parry’s kind would be shooting at beer bottles and beer cans.

  • Glutton

Compared to Parry, yes, Obama would be an uber-genius.

  • Dngrwill

Yes … his handling of foreign affairs and our economy prove that very well … which is why, genius or not – Perry has been kicking Obama’s a** is job creation.

Book smarts rarely translate to the real world.  Obama’s proof of that.

    Liberal Logic.

Surely this is based of a detailed and scientific cognative asessment that you conducted on both individuals  while further comparing GPA and higher education transcripts to validate your discoveries.

And…in no shape or form is a useless, unsubstantiated, baseless opinon, fueled by your political leanings, and then vomitted onto this thread for us to laugh at……right?

  • Guest

I’d like to see the proof that he is booksmart.

  • Guest

Apparently you weren,’t around for the 08 Democrat campaign.  If you look at that, you can pretty much see your comment validated all the way through the endgame.

  • Guest

Would that be similar to Obama attempting to relate to ghetto living broke asses, with the only thing missing being any substance to his words?

  • Guest

You shot at the police station every monday?  You must be a track star since you clearly were not caught.

  • Guest

Are you using your magic eight ball to predict the future again?

  • Chrispy

Did you know that most of the jobs created in Texas in the past three years have gone to immigrants, and that most of those were/are illegals? OMG!

Cognitive, not cognative. Assessment, not asessment. Need a comma before “while” and after “transcripts”. Nice job on “unsubstantiated”, but you missed on vomitted. Only one “t” in that word.
