In Egypt, Woman Kisses Riot Officer In Protest

Online

A fascinating new photo out of Egypt today depicts an aspect of protesting that’s often forgotten amid news of violence and explosions and statistics: It’s personal.

The image shows a woman (described as a protester in the photo’s original caption) as she kisses a young riot police officer on the cheek.

Gah…I hope that photo disappears because in the new “Islamic Republic of Egypt” she will be stoned to death for lascivious behavior.

Hope for some double rainbows, prancing unicorns and fairy dust too while you’re at it.

Look they deserve to have a revolution

We don’t rule Egypt, the people in Egypt do. Being in a country under a 30 year dictator rule isn’t all that good, even if it is secular. We can’t expect them to bow to our needs all the time. This is what got us in trouble in Iran. We supported a ruthless “secular” dictator and the people fell for a theocracy, and trust me, it won’t be long before they have a revolution..

I hope this revolution sweeps through the Arabian Sands, enlightening the Arabian minds with ideas of human liberties..

If you pay attention to what’s going on in Lebanon, Turkey, and Yemen, you’d see that “enlightenment” and “liberty” are the furthest things from the “Arabian” minds.

What is going on is the Islamists are solidifying their past Ummah.

“The image shows a woman (described as a protester in the photo’s original caption) as she kisses a young riot police officer on the cheek. ” Who then proceeded to beat the crap out of her with his baton.

The only one smiling in all this are the Muslim Brotherhood and the possibility of replacing a brutal secular government with a brutal Islamic government. Either way Egyptians lose.

It reminds me of the Vietnam war protest picture where the girl is putting flowers in the rifles of the National Guard

    Hi Oxycon,

Can you please define the Arab Mind? I think people should be aware that the fear of an Islamic take over is part of the propaganda message of Mubarak. He and his thugs can not face the reality of their losing control of the country. His government has shut down the water and electricity in many towns. They have also shut down the internet and cell phone service. What would we American do if a government took away our cell phones? I think people would get out their automatic weapons and start a revolution.

I would lke to hear back from you Oxycon because I need to understand the American Mind.

Can’t they all just get along?

Great photo. Like in the US, the military remains trusted by the citizens. This may very well bring an orderly process to transitioning more rights and opportunities to the Egyptian citizenry.

An iconic photo in the making..
