Mika Brzezinski: ‘I Can’t Go Forward’ With Book Deal Unless Harvey Weinstein Resigns

Following the New York Times’ publishing a blockbuster report detailing Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein’s three decades’ worth of sexual wrongdoing that included settling eight lawsuits for sexual harassment, there has been quite a bit of criticism directed liberals’ and entertainers’ way over their relative silence on the issue.

The Times then published a piece about Weinstein’s “media enablers” that described why “no journalistic outfit had been able, or perhaps willing, to nail the details and hit publish.” The author of the article noted that the story remained out of the limelight because “too many people in the intertwined news and entertainment industries had too much to gain from Mr. Weinstein for too long.”

In response to that article, MSNBC host Mika Brzezinski wanted it to be known that she not only wanted Weinstein to resign but that she would back out of her three-book deal with Weinstein Books if he didn’t.

Brzezinski signed the deal with the publishing company in July. The agreement was for her to provide a revised edition of her 2011 Knowing Your Value book — also published through Weinstein — and provide two other works, one tentatively titled Comeback Careers.
