MSNBC Explains How Rubio Can Still Stop Trump By Keeping His Delegates At the Convention
MSNBC’s chief legal corespondent Ari Melber unearthed quite a play by the strategists on the now-defunct Marco Rubio campaign. He discovered that Rubio’s people have been sending letters to the delegates they won and imploring them to still stay loyal to him even though he has suspended his campaign. Only a few weeks ago, there were rumors that Rubio’s 169 delegates might be bribed by Donald Trump or Ted Cruz, but Rubio and his team had other plans.

He appeared on MSNBC this morning to explain in more detail what this unprecedented move means for the campaigns of Trump and Cruz.
I learned from a Rubio aide that they are sending these letters everywhere that he won delegates, asking to hold on to the delegates and I asked why and they said, quote, “To stop Trump.”
He went on to explain that Rubio had used very specific wording when suspending his campaign, which now appears to have been an allusion to his plan to keep Trump from reaching 1237 delegates. If he is successful in retaining his delegates, the amount of available, free-floating delegates going to the convention will drop from 323 to 151.
The question now is whether or not this little scheme will work.
