Palin’s Green Eggs and Ham CPAC Bit Was Ripped Off a Chain Email
At CPAC this weekend, Sarah Palin got some howls for her new rendering of Green Eggs and Ham, now all about Obamacare and those crooks in Washington and the media. While many were quick to point out that Dr. Seuss’ book ends with the stubborn protagonist liking green eggs/Obamacare, the blog Reading is for Snobs nabbed another angle: those “new” lyrics are from a chain email that’s been circulating since at least 2010.
Here’s a Washington Free Beacon post from August 2010 with almost exactly the same rhymes:

Palin changes them a smidge, adding in a reference to the media, and swapping an allusion to then-Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi for something about the NSA.
In her intro, Palin announced she’d “had to spice [the book] up a bit,” but never and she did allude to the fact that the “spice” came from an online source.
[Correction: This piece has been updated to reflect that, later in her speech, Palin alluded to the fact that she obtained her Green Eggs and Ham routine from an online source.]
