Report: Julian Assange Biopic Is In The Works Because…Of Course It Is

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Hollywood has begun the quest to get Julian Assange into our theaters. No, he won’t be fulfilling his destiny and starring as the villain in the next James Bond movie. Instead, they’re planning on making a biopic of his life. Many are now questioning who should get the plum lead role. Over here, though, the only thing we want to know is whether or not this tale of cyber-intrigue and political transparency will be coming at us in MIND-BLOWING 3D!

The film will be based on the biography The Most Dangerous Man in the World which was written by Australian reporter Andrew Fowler. Hollywood Reporter has the details on what’s covered in the book:

“The book traces Assange’s childhood to his founding of WikiLeaks, the whistleblower website that put Assange into the U.S. government’s crosshairs when in November he published secret diplomatic cables. Right after, he was accused of sexual offences and is now on bail.”

You’d think Hollywood would want to wait a little to find out what actually happens to Assange but, hey, at least it’s not another remake, right?

Anyway, the project doesn’t even have a writer signed on yet so it’ll still be a while before we all get to see that glorious, silver head of hair on the big screen. Fortunately, we can assume that WikiLeaks will leak the script once it’s written so we don’t have that long to wait.

It will be a tragedy if Bill Maher is not cast as the lead role in this movie!

Too old. How about Neil Patrick Harris?

Not crazy enough. Granted he was pretty off the wall in harold & kumar, but now that he’s openly gay it’ll be hard to have him play a character being brought up on charges for sexual assault on women. Not saying he can’t do it just that as I watch the movie that’ll be in the back of my mind.

What about the womanizing character NPH plays on How I Met Your Mother? Apparently he is very good and very convincing. It’s called acting after all.

Great, another Hollywood movie I can’t watch.

  • Alex Alvarez

    My money’s on Tilda Swinton.

    Tilda’s got the hair.

  • Harry Flashman

    Lead role – Rachel Maddow.

  • Judge Mental

I don’t find Harris at all convincing as a womanizer.

    I nominate David Spade.
