Report: Morning Joe Recently Met With Trump to Discuss Ending Their Feud
According to a Monday report, Morning Joe‘s Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski both recently paid a visit to Donald Trump in order to talk about ending their hostilities with each other.
CNN Money media reporter Dylan Byers is reporting that the hosts of Morning Joe recently paid a visit to Trump Tower, hoping to “rekindle a once-rosy relationship”:
Last week, Scarborough and his “Morning Joe” co-host, Mika Brzezinski, visited the Republican presidential nominee at Trump Tower to rekindle a once-rosy relationship that has turned bitter and adversarial, sources with knowledge of the meeting told CNNMoney.
The three also discussed the possibility of conducting an interview for “Morning Joe,” though nothing was decided or finalized, one of the sources said. Scarborough did not respond to a request for comment.
The development marks a strange new chapter in the relationship between the Republican candidate and the MSNBC morning show. In the first few months of the 2016 election, many in the media noted that Scarborough and Brzezinski seemed quite friendly with Trump, even offering him advice and promising not to ask too many hard questions.
As time went on, however, this relationship took a turn for the worse as Scarborough became increasingly critical of Trump for not showing any signs of refinement or evolution in his politics and antics. Eventually, this caused Trump to say he was done with the show, and he and the Morning Joe hosts have exchanged critical remarks with each other ever since.
The timing of this reconciliation is interesting, considering that Scarborough recently said he has a satirical new project in the works that probably won’t get the Trump seal of approval.
This isn’t the first time journalists have had to ask Trump for a ceasefire. Months ago, Fox host Megyn Kelly made an unexpected trip to Trump Tower, which led to the de-escalation of the one-sided feud between her and Trump.
