Reports Say Melissa Harris-Perry ‘Very Unlikely’ to Return to MSNBC

Screen Shot 2016-02-27 at 2.28.24 PMFollowing yesterday’s announcement that Melissa Harris-Perry had walked off the set of her show on MSNBC after being pre-empted for political coverage for two weeks in a row, speculation that she had ruined her career in television was heavy.

Now, according to CNN’s Brian Stelter, Harris-Perry will probably not be returning to MSNBC at all. She is currently on strike until the network will allow her to get back to “substantive, meaningful, and autonomous work.”

Her contract there expires in October, so it isn’t looking likely that the controversial host will return to helm her show, which is equally controversial in its own right.

For their part, the network has been rebranding in recent months, trying to shuck their left-leaning image in favor of something more balanced. And in recent weeks, MSNBC has pre-empted almost all of its weekday dayside programming and much of its standard weekend offerings in favor of wall-to-wall political coverage.
