Rush Limbaugh: Obama Is The Nation’s First ‘Anti-American President’

audio

Rush Limbaugh joined the tirade over the proposed Islamic center in lower Manhattan on his radio show today saying that Liberals will allow mosques near Ground Zero but not Walmarts. And he has a point. There are no Walmarts in New York City despite multiple attempts to open one here, Ground Zero or otherwise. And the resistance to open one comes from both the Unions and community groups.

Of course, if you follow this argument to its larger logical conclusion than Rush seems to be saying we should be supporting capitalist endeavors over religious ones. Obviously, that is not what he is really saying. What he is really saying is that by supporting the group’s right to build, President Obama has revealed himself to be un-American: “We thought Obama was our first post-American president, we might have under-estimated him: our first anti-American president.” Because he publicly supported the First Amendment and property rights? Rush doesn’t clarify. Later he asks why we don’t build a Hindu temple next to the USS Arizona Memorial to Pearl Harbor in Hawaii…for outreach to the Indians? (He later corrects himself.) At some point someone will need to create a map for all this proposed building. Maybe they can sell it at Ground Zero (but not at Walmart!). Audio below.

Rush misspoke about the Hindu Temple. He later corrected it. I guess you quit listening. Japanese are not Hindu.

    Rush is RIGHT as usual.

He actually had a story with even more relevance. There was a Greek Orthodox church that had been destroyed when one of the Twin Towers buildings collapsed. They have been embattled since then to rebuild at their original location, yet the mayor has bent over backwards to facilitate the construction of the Muslim Center.

I think the more important issue is the fact that President Obama is anti-US Constitution. Being “American” and/or “Anti-American” is very subjective. However, the words of the US Constitution are not. Additionally, Obama wouldn’t be the first Anti-constitutionalist. There have been plenty of Presidents that have slowly chipped away at the founding document. Wilson, FDR, Johnson, Lincoln, Nixon…and the list goes on and on. Our founding fathers never intended the federal government to be so powerful.

“drug seeking” – Obama has admitted to snorting cocaine

“homophobic” – Obama is against gay marriage

“Hate-mongering racist” – Obama has made various bigoted claims in his books that he’s “written” and during various speeches. i.e. see comments about “white mans greed,” his own grandmother, etc

In Manhattan you can build a mosque because you have a right to.

In Manhattan you can’t build a Wal-Mart because you don’t have a right to.

But ready folks, In Manhattan you can build a Target because you have a right to.

    http://abcnews.go.com/Business/wireStory?id=11224287

This same practice (Wal-Mart & Target) was used in (OH MY!) Chicago in 1994.

Well I guess Target must pay better give better benefits, let’s see shall we? From Chris Serres published in the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, May 22nd, 2005:

“Target declined to disclose details about its compensation and benefits, but labor groups and former and current employees of Target in the Twin Cities say the retailer sometimes pays less than Wal-Mart.

Target pays between $6.25 an hour to $8 an hour for entry-level, hourly positions in its Twin Cities stores, according to a recent survey of local Target workers by the UFCW. That’s in line with what Wal-Mart pays in this market, though some starting-level Wal-Mart workers can earn $9 to $10 an hour, the UFCW said.

Both companies offer health care insurance to employees, but Target’s is considered more restrictive. Two years ago, Target dropped health care insurance coverage for all part-time workers. By contrast, Wal-Mart makes its medical plan available to all workers, full- and part-time.

Union groups that have analyzed the two companies’ policies maintain that Wal-Mart’s also is more equitable.”

WHAT! WAIT! DID I JUST HEAR? NO! Union groups that have analyzed the two companies’ policies maintain that Wal-Mart’s also is more equitable? I’M SHOCKED!

Here’s more: “Target Managers would hover near the checkout lanes to make sure cashiers were pitching the cards with “the proper enthusiasm,” Murphy said. They were required to vary how they pitched the cards so they wouldn’t annoy repeat customers, but Murphy said she found the quota impossible to attain.

“I hired on to be a cashier, but they wanted us to be telemarketers,” she said. “I didn’t want to be known in the community as the ‘Target Red Card pusher.’ ” Murphy resigned after nine months without ever receiving the raise.”

Well I’m sure the liberals should be all over Target for this abuse right? WRONG!

How do the libs justify themselves going after Wal-Mart & NOT Target? Get ready………..

“Union groups have to focus on Wal-Mart because until the nation’s largest retailer alters its labor practices, companies like Target will have no incentive to change, Blank added.

“No one here is excusing Target or anyone else for failing to live up to its responsibilities to its workers,” Blank said. “But how do you change these very large companies? You have to go after the source of the problem, and that’s still Wal-Mart.”

It’s a great read (for an anti Wal-Mart site) folks check it out.

Well I guess nothing came of it because if it did Limbaugh would have broke probation and been thrown in jail. Guess your just pissing in the wind…….again…….hope the wind isn’t blowing in your direction.

So, Michelle–who listens to Rush but is NOT a racist–how do you feel about these quotes by your fat friend?

[To an African American female caller]: “Take that bone out of your nose and call me back.” —Wow–NOTHING racist about his, huh?

“I think the media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well. They’re interested in black coaches and black quarterbacks doing well. I think there’s a little hope invested in McNabb and he got a lot of credit for the performance of his team that he really didn’t deserve.” —This is not only racist, it’s just stupid–McNabb was the heart and soul of that Eagles team and deserved every bit of credit he got. But nice of Limbaugh to pull the old “black quarterback” card out.

What about his little “Barack the Magic Negro” bit? —You okay with that? Nothing wrong with it? Not even a hint of racism there?

WASHINGTON — The Senate’s top Democrat says a mosque should not be built near the site of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

Sen. Harry Reid of Nevada on Monday became the highest profile Democrat to break with President Barack Obama, who on Friday backed the right for the developers to build a mosque near ground zero.

Its a bad day for libtards. Obama is still losing the battle of the Mosque. Now the Courts have stopped that loony gay marriage decision.
All the loons that post are still trying to figure out how they are going to explain this.

  • republicansareawfulpeople

Hey, Gordon the Moron–please explain how simply stating the Mosque has a right to be built any damn where anyone wants to build it is “losing a battle.” If you read the Harry Reid quote carefully (if you can), you’ll see that he AGREES with Obama. They both think that the mosque has the right to be built. Unlike Obama, Reid has gone one step further and said where he thinks it SHOULDN’T be built. Why is that so hard for you to understand?

And in what perverse society do you live in where YOU get to decide who gets married and who doesn’t? There is no LEGAL reason why gays should not be allowed to be married…is there? Can you find me one? No–you’ll come back with some passage from the Bible to support you. Guess what? Your religion is not my religion, so you can’t govern me with it. You know what tells me that? The fucking Constitution, that’s what.

Crawl back to your cave, you under-educated neanderthal.

  • republicansareawfulpeople

Hey, Michelle, you racist freak–I did your work for you. Limbaugh’s “take the bone out of your nose” quote is linked everywhere. And I’ve even included the passage where the quote is verified. But feel free to visit the link and read the whole thing for yourself…you might learn something. And as far as what Harry Reid said, he didn’t say anything racist. Believe me–I think there are legitimate reasons to consider not putting the mosque in that location, and Reid has voiced some of those. What he has NOT done is fear-mongered and hate-mongered. He didn’t spout off about how Islam is evil and Muslims want to kill all Americans and that it’s like putting a Hindu temple next to the USS Arizona. I know, I know–one of Limbaugh’s lackeys caught his error, but still…what an idiot douchebag. The point is, it used to be interesting to debate conservatives. I don’t agree with many (or any) of their social positions, but I do understand them to a point. I certainly understand why someone with money or someone in business for themself would vote Republican. Those are debates that I’m willing to have. But you’re now the party of death panels, terror babies, birthers, killer-muslims-around-every-corner, doctored videos, and in general, complete idiocy. And there’s no debating that…see what I did there?

    http://conwebwatch.tripod.com/stories/2009/mrclimbaugh09.html

But given Limbaugh’s well-documented history of racial controversy, and Steele’s position as the Republican Party’s first African-American chairman, his apology is more significant than Gingrey’s. Limbaugh has, for example, mocked Obama as a “Halfrican-American” who should “become white“; he has called for a “posthumous Medal of Honor” for the assassin of Martin Luther King, Jr., James Earl Ray, and told an African-American caller, “Take that bone out of your nose and call me back.”
But the “Halfrican-American” remark exists in audio form, and the “Take that bone out of your nose” has not been challenged — according to the myth-busters at Snopes, Limbaugh even acknowledges saying it (though he apparently did so in the 1970s prior to his current talk-radio career).

And there’s no debating that…see what I did there? http://conwebwatch.tripod.com/stories/2009/mrclimbaugh09.html But given Limbaugh’s well-documented history of racial controversy, and Steele’s position as the Republican Party’s first African-American chairman, his apology is more significant than Gingrey’s. Limbaugh has, for example, mocked Obama as a “Halfrican-American” who should “become white“; he has called for a “posthumous Medal of Honor” for the assassin of Martin Luther King, Jr., James Earl Ray, and told an African-American caller, “Take that bone out of your nose and call me back.”But the “Halfrican-American” remark exists in audio form, and the “Take that bone out of your nose” has not been challenged — according to the myth-busters at Snopes, Limbaugh even acknowledges saying it (though he apparently did so in the 1970s prior to his current talk-radio career).

So let me see anything Harry Reid says isn’t racist but something Limbaugh said apx. 40 years ago PROVES that he’s racist. How f**kin’ stupid are you?

And then you link to a third rate website that quotes, READY FOLKS Media Matters! Bla! HA! Ha!!

Oh and this is the best! Only Republicans doctor videos? Really? You must be brain dead! That’s all your buddies over at Media Matters do for a living!

BTW tough guy why did you wait until four hours passed until you decided to pick a bone with Michelle?

Now why don’t you and Hillary jump in the car and run over to as Hillary said Ghandi’s Gas Station.(oh no thats not racist).

Limbaugh almost never proposes sound arguments (they’re most often fallacious, such as this one). In this case, our president is showing support for the first amendment to begin with, which calls into question the “anti-American” accusation. Limbaugh then goes on to stand up the property rights straw man regarding a Walmart in New York, which leads into a humurous display of circular logic (“There is no Walmart in New York, therefore Obama is anti-capitalist, which means he is anti-American!”).

His listeners by and large, I would imagine (though I could be wrong), actually agree with this kind of illogical thinking. The more I read or listen to what hucksters like Limbaugh and Beck say on their highly rated shows, the more I realize the need for a devoted effort to teach critical thinking to our youth at an early age. It’s embarrassing that so many people in our country are actually this ignorant.

Mr Obama mentioned the Mosque/Islamic Center is slated to be built on “private property”. I would be interested to find out who owns that chunk of real estate in NYC. If Mr Obama knows it is “private property”, it sounds to me like he may have a even deeper knowledge of the project. The issue is not the building of a facility, the issue is locating that facility next to “ground zero” and the reported timing of it’s slated opening date on 9/11/2011. What could be more “politically incorrect?” It is socially insensitive to New Yorkers and especially to the families of the 3000 Americans who were murdered on 911.

Where in the Constitution does it say that we have to lay down and accept the enemy placing a shrine declaring victory over the infadels without a fight close to Ground Zero?
We will fight those people to the end.

I guess freedom of religion is fine by you – as long as it’s YOUR religion.

If all Muslims are our “enemies,” so are all Christians like Tim McVeigh.

Victory mosque? This building will be neither – but don”t let the facts interfere with your right-wing talking points. Olbermann covered the details quite well in his recent special comment, noted elsewher on Mediaite.

“Let’s talk about the religious freedom in Muslim run Saudi Arabia:”

We should be just as discriminatory as THEY are? Two wrongs DO make a “right”?

As Keith Olbermann also said the other night; we’re Americans, dammit. We welcome those who choose to worship their God in their own way. If we succumb to our prejudices and fears, we ARE no better than “they” are.

“Now your little temper tantrum does not change the FACT that Joe Biden is a draft dodger………..as is BILL CLINTON!!!!!!!!!”

Can’t you – or WON’T you – read? Biden opposed Nam and received legal deferments. Neither he nor Clinton was a “draft dodger” no matter how hard the aggressively ignorant Right tries to convince themselves and each other to the contrary.

!!!!!!!! (Your rabid scream needed a few more exclamation points. There ya go.)

“Crawl back to your cave, you under-educated neanderthal.”

Don’t be too hard on gordimblowhard. He and logic are “strange bedfellows.” His pathetic “show” is doubtless similarly absent rational thought.

“you only like the constitution when its convenient for you.”

Like the neocon Supreme Court arbitrarily deciding that corporations are PEOPLE? That has to stand as the most ridiculous and corrupt decision in the Court’s history. “We The Corporations of the United States . . . ”

“Only Republicans doctor videos? Really? You must be brain dead! That’s all your buddies over at Media Matters do for a living!”

MediaMatters.org ran ONE Beck segment that didn’t include a “just kidding”-type remark made at the end. It’s hard to tell when Beck and co. are joking because Beck IS a joke. Media Matters promptly corrected their mistake and apologized for the error.

Contrast this to Fakes “News,” which routinely and unrelentingly distorts the truth. They padded the video of a sparsely attended Tea Party rally with video from an earlier event. They refused to address this until compelled to do so, at which time Sham Hannity smarmily claimed that Fox had made a “mistake.” He looked like he was having a root canal – without painkillers.

They also truncated congressional testimony by Al Gore to reverse his intended meaning. These are just two of hundreds of instances of right-wing dishonesty found by MediaMatters.org – which routinely includes numerous reputable source links to support its reportage. The right depends on questionable sources like the Washington Times – a “rag” of dubious journalistic merit even though it’s owned by “God” – presumably a FALSE God but, hey, it supports your views so you swallow it. Gulp.

“Randi Rhodes audio clip on killing Bush link here”

If Rhodes had overtly threatened Dumbya she’d be in custody. I don’t trust any right-wing generated material without a means to cross-check it. I don’t receive the Rhodes podcast. Unlike too many right-wing radio hosts, Rhodes is well-informed and straightforward. She assigns “homework” to her listeners and tells them not to just take her word on anything. She urges them to THINK FOR THEMSELVES.

“BTW tough guy why did you wait until four hours passed until you decided to pick a bone with Michelle?”

You’ll be astounded to learn that people have a life away from this site. Hint-hint.

Some Dude: “Critical thinking” is exactly the right cure for impaired thinking.

How did we allow our educational system to devolve to such a horrific degree? (Yeah, I know – blame the teachers’ unions.) Why did we decide that the children AREN’T our future? It is both a travesty and a crime that we have allowed this to happen.

Bush’s “No Child Left Behind” has been an unmitigated disaster that profited only his brother Neil and the professional testing industry – at the cost of our future and that of our children.

When did we become so fearful of “inconvenient truths”? Fearmongers like Limbaugh and Beck thrive because they appeal to the worst in us – the “bitter angels” of our nature, so to speak. Our fear of those who are “different” in some way; fear of change; fear of having our preconceived notions challenged; in all of these, “fear” is the operative word.

It takes courage to face one’s fears and prejudices; to question long-held beliefs that don’t mesh with current realities; to understand and accept differences among peoples and cultures – and seek areas of common agreement.

How is Obama “attacking’ gun owners by noting their obvious fears? (You actually PROVE his point.)

How is he “attacking” the First Amendment by exercising his presidential duty by insisting that Muslims be allowed to worship as they see fit, as that same amendment directs? Your argument . . . isn’t an argument.

You are drawing conclusions not in evidence. Obama knows it’s private property because he – and the rest of us – has been told so. the site is not “next to Ground Zero”; it is a substantial distance away. American Muslims died in the Twin Towers – including rescue workers. Your irrational fears dishonor their memory and trump rational judgment. Will you come back and apologize if your presumptions turn our false? I doubt it. We live in a time when an allegation is as good as a conviction in some minds. Sad.

Both Obama AND Bush have hosted traditional Muslim dinners as well as Muslim leaders. Why save your wrath until Obama took the White House? Your hypocrisy is showing.

“Rush, the man for the KKK and likely Beck’s early role model.”

As well as gordumblowhole. Too bad the role-modeling doesn’t include even a scintilla of talent.

Limbaugh latched onto a “shtick” that worked for him and he’s been beating it to a slow death ever since. The obvious hypocrisy of the man – with his multiple marriages, ‘family values” and racism-tinged bloviations is completely lost on a mesmerized listenership that fails to realize he doesn’t give a damn about THEM. It’s the MONEY. He’s earned hundreds of millions over the years, simply by bamboozling the fearful, the aggressively ignorant and the racist among us – a disturbingly large group.

As H. L. Mencken said: “Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public.”

When Limbaugh feels the need for even more self-promotion, all he has to do is make yet another fact-deprived/racist/incendiary comment. The mainstream press will come running like trained lapdogs, anxious to report the latest Screed from the Dark Side.

Shame on them . . . and us.
