I think it should be released but I don’t think it will act as a detterent, as Palin suggested, or as an inciter , as Obama suggests for terrorists. And as for it being a detterent, like I said before terrorists are going to kill and they aren’t afraid to kill themselves so I don’t think terrorists will be running scared because of this photo.

Agreed. I don’t see the photo mattering when it comes to the enemy. Both Palin and Obama are wrong in their reasoning. They already hate us and wish us death. I want the photo out to silence those that feel compelled to nitpick at everything.

That said, it is not our usual practice to release photos of executed criminals. As Americans, we do try to allow some dignity, even to total slime. Remember that the video if the Hussein execution was done despite our wishes that it not exist. As to the photos of the sons, that was a mistake to release. Not for Palin’s or Obama’s reasons, but because it simply is not our way.

This photo will eventually come out anyway.

In what respect, are we better? Shouldn’t we incorporate our enemy’s position on killing? Namely, kill, burn, drag through streets, and hang from overpasses. Does that harm your sensibilities? We are fighting a war against people who have no qualms about killing women and children and yet you want us to respect some nonexistent terrorist chivalry? Remind us of that the next time you see children’s body parts all over the place. Then you can tell us all again about how nice we should be to our enemy.

I have seen enough gruesome pictures of people who have been shot and I have seen enough people who have been shot that I am not looking to see more. If the Seals got him twice, that is good enough for me- I am sure they made sure he was dead. If not then he sure would be after being dumped in the sea. I don’t understand this bloodthirsty wench wanting to see the pictures. Those who attacked us on 9-11 knew our military might but it didn’t stop them. Especially the actual perpetrators. They were on a suicide mission- it didn’t matter to them or Bin Laden. Why do they think it would stop any now? If there is a chance the pictures could inflame acts against out soldiers, it isn’t worth it to release the pictures.
