Schumer Responds to Trump’s Attack: ‘Contact Took Place Under Oath’
Responding to President Trump‘s attack on Twitter earlier today, Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) also took to tweeting in response to the president’s accusations that his connections with Russia and Vladimir Putin should be investigated.
Happily talk re: my contact w Mr. Putin & his associates, took place in ’03 in full view of press & public under oath. Would you &your team? https://t.co/yXgw3U8tmQ
— Chuck Schumer (@SenSchumer) March 3, 2017
The photo called into question by the president is one of Putin and Schumer enjoying doughnuts while in New York for the opening of a Russian gas company’s station.
Schumer states that the contact was within view of the public (and press) and was conducted under oath. He also uses the tweet-retort to ask if Trump and “[his] team” would be willing to “Happily talk” about their contact with Russian officials.
